Read your post, guessed I would not be able to tell, measured 8g lead tape x4 and gave it a whirl in a blind test with wife assist (who is convinced I’m mental...).

 

36” MnBn Ping My Day (85029) - head weight likely 315ish:  yes

35” MnBn Ping Anser (85020) - head weight likely 315ish:  no

34.5” 2020 Cameron Special Select Newport 2.5 - weight ~355g:  no

33” Ping Anser2 circa 2018 - 340g:  no

 

The 36” My Day is my current gamer and although I could tell a difference, it was not enough that I would care in real use.  In other words, unmistakable but slight.

 

[Edit:  Re-ran 35” Anser and changed to ‘no’.  I was guessing...].

Yes, for me 8 grams in the head of a putter if not counter balanced is very noticeable.

I'd say it depends especially on the grip. If it's a heavy grip no most likely not, if a lighter grip you may. I put 4.8g of lead tape on a 350g putter I had and it felt better, not worlds of difference just settled the head a bit, but the grip is also super light on it.

You may be able to tell a difference but it will be very, very faint.
