Agreed. If they try to add in some technology, like an insert, I’m sure there would be plenty of complaints that way too. This is literally what people have been wanting for years, and some still find a way to complain about it. For the most part, it seems like the majority is happy about the release, myself included.

I have last years 5.5 and absolutely love it. The old, picked it up at the shop and it just worked scenario. Went from an old Pro Platinum Newport. I resisted going away from a blade for a long time. The 5.5 head is a nice compromise IMO. It’s fairly compact for a “mallet”, and a lot more forgiving than a blade.

Both last year’s Special Select and this year’s Phantom extension are well received. Scotty doesn’t need all the gimmicks, e.g. excessive dots, 3M tape, etc. 

 

Furthermore, I don’t think this will hurt IBJT model per se. It might limit its upside, but IBJT is a solid limited edition release. I don’t see its price will go down.

I think what it’s gonna hurt is all the guys doing welded necks and upselling  them on eBay

Too bad they kept all the other models black and the terrible dots for the sightline. The 5.5 is an absolute winner and it will be purchased to test against the Select 1.5 and Spider X.

As a lefty I’ll just say that absolutely nobody should be complaining. We got the flowneck version that has been most requested. Any grumbling lefty just needs to go buy the old x5 if they have a problem.

To me it just seems as if Scotty is on a rinse and repeat cycle.. the #5 looks okay with the top line but everything else just looks decent..just my two cents though  considering I’ve always preferred a white hot insert.

Some of you people are unbelievable, impossible to please. Did it ever occur to you that Scotty wants to stay in the [somewhat] classic design game, as opposed to space age designs and materials. There’s definitely a place for those types of putters in the market but not every manufacturer has to play in that space, least of all Scotty Cameron. 
 

He stuck an insert in his putters for a few years and GolfWRX was outraged. Now he releases the long sought after “JT 5.5” to retail and yet you’re still pissed. I am by no means a Scotty fanboy. Sure, I like his putters more or less as much as anyone else, I’ve owned a slew of them over the years. It’s this incessant need that people seem to have to always want to have something to complain about that gets really old.

Absolutely. Scotty makes a more classic putter. Not everyone wants what Callaway and TM are doing. The look of em has never appealed to me but it obviously does to a lot of players. 
Can Scotty make a more radical, cutting edge putter? Absolutely, check out the first Futura. It came out lose to 20yrs ago.  When did the first Spyder come out? 10-12yrs ago? It’s just not the category he chooses to live in. It’s definitely not because he’s lazy or can’t. That’s ridiculous. btw. Aren’t the Odyssey (Callaway) Toulon putters around $450?? Are they super cutting edge?? Nope. I hate to say it, but haters gonna hate.

Really impressed with the new additions to the line. I cannot see myself changing, my Futura 5S from a few years back is going absolutely nowhere but all but muting the lime green colour scheme is a big improvement for me and the putters look great.

 

Basically, my view is that all the guys complaining would only ever be happy if purchasing a Scotty meant being allowed to head along to the Studio and having Scotty design the whole thing around you 😂

Love a sight dot, which has me looking at the new PXG as well.  I know what to expect from this line, in terms of feel and sound.  I have not rolled a PXG putter yet.
