Scotty Cameron Phantom X 2021

I love the look of this series, but I toyed with one at a golf galaxy and the feel was so muted. It felt like hitting it with a headcover on. I guess I just prefer something firmer, I much prefer the feel of the fanged Evenroll ER5. 

 

(Apparently, I used the older black Aluminum faced version. My mistake.)

To confirm, you were able to try one of the new model Phantoms at GG or the 2019 models (with the black aluminum faces)?

I cant imagine that was the 2021 model.

I bet it was the 2018 now that you say that. I take it the new ones have improved that?

Yeah I think it must be the older Model, my mistake. Sounds like the new one is firmer?

Couldn't warm to the 2019 version phantom's because of the aluminum face, they switched back to a stainless steel face this cycle so id imagine it will have a firmer feel🤞

Tried the new 5.5 today, but at 35” and a tad more upright than I usually play.

Absolutely loved the feel, much better for some reason when I compared to the Special Select Newport when trying them side by side.

Alignment was easy, but would have preferred a site dot instead of the line, and that’s the only complaint.

Weighting felt great.

My wife might end me as I just dropped some serious coin on a DH89, if I also get the 5.5 ha

Where were you able to do the test drive? Big box store or elsewhere?

I think the 11 would be best for my stroke, but was wondering about that back flange with the long sight line if it was plastic or aluminum.

Completely agree, would have loved to see a new headcover not mad about the yellow.

Other people have asked the same, I think it was the black aluminum faced one, my mistake.

I've mentioned this in another thread (or maybe this) but it will likely be similar to the Flowback 5.5, or even/possibly (I'm hoping) between the Flowback 5.5 and Fastback 1.5, IRT- toe hang... Just based on the neck, combined with the head.

They will be in stock about a week earlier, so they can set out to display and sell on the 25th.  

I placed a order for the 5.5 this morning.

Sold the 2019 5.5 on the BST and ordered the 2021 version.  The aluminum did feel soft to me and the slant neck will be better.

Had a few gift cards lying around so I pre ordered through PGA superstore website... Im also looking forward to the stainless face as I also felt the face on my 5w was too soft for my liking.

I just walked into my Local pgass. They didnt even have one 21’ to demo. Im LH and was figuring i could at least hold a RH model. 🤷🏼‍♂️

With a few exceptions on some places getting some in early, you won’t see them in the stores for 2.5 weeks.
