Agree 💯 on John, though having had a few "heart to hearts" with him during our time together when he was in town and under Mr. Hardy's wings/mentorship(84 Lumber Classic), while things were going great for him, their relationship, yada yada yada, I knew how it would eventually end(as almost all of his relationships have ended) though he told me things in confidence that I could not bring myself to tell Mr. Hardy(he was a patient of my father's).

That being said, he told Mr. Hardy who he was and how he lived his life from day one, and John never lied to the man. Without getting into specifics, I'll just say that John has looked at his life on Tour and all of the success that it brought him as "dumb *ss Razorback luck," and his time here on earth as "borrowed time," and he was gonna live whatever time that he had on his terms.

Thinking back to our talks, his smoking with his health issues makes perfect sense to me. I don't agree with it as when I had my cancers, I had to alter my lifestyle and habits, however who in the F*ck am I to judge John and his ways🤷🏼‍♂️?

He's a good man and that's more than I can say for many that I've crossed paths with both on and off of the course.

These words in his song really do sum up John's life both on and off of the course and he's spot on regarding lawyers, shrinks & ex-wives😉 ...

Nice post @seis👊

I would think as close he is with LJ he would re think the borrowed time and do would he could to extend that time. Cancer tough as you know. It does a number on you emotionally. Hope he beats it

Should be a great tournament without the amateurs (I won't say celebrities as I haven't heard of 95% of them). Pace of play should be faster, and perhaps the course set-up will be a bit more challenging.

Agreed.

Relieved to see that Bill Murray at least didn't get screwed out of his all expense paid trip to the peninsula though!

Sorry what's the GSS? His old blade?

Yep. Sorry.  Looks like his oldest one. The one with the white dot on the heel and the steel shaft.

Agree 💯 and this goes to show just how critical that the mental side of a Player's game is to him/her, as you've named Major Winners and some of THE finest ball strikers on planet earth🌍, who should be able to pick up ANY blade/MCB made, regardless of brand, with the customization that takes place, because their clubs are nothing like the retail versions, and with a week or two of steady Playing/hitting, be able to "own" whatever club is in their hand, and yet they end up spiraling down the money list, hitting from places on a course that they had previously only heard chops speak of and ultimately switching back or going to another OEM.

My Tour Bud whom I've spoken of before, is a perfect example. He won on his second year on Tour, defeating a Major Winner head up in the process and had the world by the b*lls, and was approached after that season to switch club sponsors with a major financial incentive involved, which he did, and he subsequently flew to their headquarters, was custom fit with every single spec, and though he loved his new clubs, hit em like he owned em, he still took a two week break from the west coast swing to hit/Play em.

Long story short, and this goes to my prior points and pontificating on the critical nature of visualization(PSR) "under the gun," in his pre-shot visualization, whereas before he had not even thought about the club, EVER, much less the brand of club, when he went through his Pre-Shot Routine, he found himself fixating on his new clubs, actually alternately visualizing his "old" clubs and THEN trying to visualize his new clubs, to the point that he would step outa the box to "regroup" mentally. He would Play out his 2-year deal  and then go back to his original club sponsor, though in the mean time he had changed his swing, redone his PSR, yada yada yada, and he has never won on Tour again, though he had some kick-*ss seasons and finished inside the top-75 in the Fed-Ex Play-offs.

Bottom line is that he stated that if he could get a mulligan, he'd have left the money on the table, thanked the OEM for their interest and stayed where he was. As crazy as it may sound to some of us, this is just how critical a Player's mental thoughts are, and ANYTHING that throws them off kilter, could and often does result in a drive landing in the second cut versus the FW, and the subsequent shot will have a different trajectory/spin approaching the green regardless of how well that it's struck, an approach shot sticking at 28-35' instead of 15-18', or a wedge stopping at 16-18' instead of 6-8'. Under the gun, these aren't a matter of yards, they are the difference in making the cut, challenging for a top-10 or better and keeping a card!!

I don't give a sh*t what they may tell another Player, say in public or to the press, cuz I've spoken to many more in private than my Bud referenced above, it's just that I've spent the most time talking with him, and as a lil adjunct to the story, it became such an issue with him that a few years after he had switched back, and had not regained his "shine(his word, not mine)," he sought out a future internationally renowned golf shrink to help him get back to his "zero thoughts(again, his words)" PSR.

Apologies for the novella but this is why I hate Twitter😂😂

It is rather odd that so many good players who won more regularly switched to PXG and never won again and now have switched back to other clubs...schwartzel, horschel, zach johnson, and lydia ko.

I know Schwartzel and Horschel got out of there but I think Zach Johnson, Lydia Ko and Hootie are still on PXGs staff.

Interesting to see Pat Perez dumped his Gen3 irons and rebagged his prior Gen2 P and XF irons.

Would be interesting to listen to that decision.

They look sick in that black finish. His bag is the one.

I want those “sock” style head covers. I wonder if they are going to be released to us?
