Slow motion swing

I'm rebuilding my swing to try and do it 'right' and eliminate years of flaws to kill consistency. First point of order is to fix backswing. When I fix my backswing, I can't hit the ball worth a hoot - the sequence and weight shift is all out of whack. Even though I look great at the top. I know it will take time but...is there any validity to doing the swing 'perfectly' in slo-mo and eventually just getting progressively faster?

 

Anyone ever done this and had success?

A lot of really good teachers recommend making changes in slow motion (as slow as you have to go in order to make the motion correctly).

 

Once you can consistently make the correct motion at say 30% speed, you go to 40% until you can make the motion correctly at that speed. Repeat until eventually you can do it at 100%.

First thing....forget perfect....it doesn't exist, only your idea of it, and your body may never be able to achieve that.  Secondly, can you post a video?  I'm guessing that if you can't hit the ball worth a hoot, then you in fact haven't fixed your backswing.

Didn’t  Harvey Penick suggest the super-slow-motion swing in his Little Red Book? If it’s good enough for Harvey, then I’d say there some validity to it.

I think Monte makes a good point in his NTC series about not caring about the result when doing a drill. If you get to where you can hit it while doing the drill that's fine but it shouldn't be the focus. You should be focused on the new feel.

Ben hogan practiced in slo mo. Pre shot routine and all...He was pretty good.
