Maxfli Tour balls

I normally play the maxfli tours but stumbled on some softfli balls so tried them out.  It could have been me, but my drives were about 15-20 yards shorter than usual and my short irons were 15-20 yards longer than usual.  It could very well have been something off with my game, it usually is, but I wish I would have had a maxfli tour with me to compare.

Swung by my local DSG this morning to pick up some Maxfli Tours, and they are "out" of the 4dz packs in both Tour and TourX, they didn't even have a place on the shelf.  Same with Softfli and Straightfli, only boxes of one dozen.  Talked to the staff (not a kid, a guy in his late 50's like me), and he said they just disappeared (I was in two weeks ago and they had at least 10 big boxes of the Tour balls), and he isn't aware that they will get more.  Hopefully this is a sign that there is a new ball coming for 2023, the Tour 4-pack has been my go-to this year as it brings the cost per dozen down even further.  Unfortunately like most retailers, the store staff have no visibility to what is coming in until they open the trailer door on the dock.

They seem to still have them available online with free 2 day shipping!

Played the yellow Maxfli Tour today for the first time.  What people are saying about this ball is true, it is terrific.  I am a prov1 - yellow - player but wanted to try these - 2 doz for $60.  The ball did everything well.  I had tremendous control just like with the ProV1, which is the most accurate ball I have ever used as shots seem to wind up closer to the hole than with other balls - at least for me.  But the Maxfli gave me a very good score today.  If this keeps up I'll be switching.  The only criticisms are the yellow is kind of bright and the ball did produce a very small scuff after only three full swings.

This means less than nothing, totally random, but for what it's worth I actually found a SoftFli ball in the rough when I was playing down at the beach last year. Played it for all of one hole and for my tee shot on the next and then just dropped it in the rough for someone else to enjoy. It was definitely short. Normally it takes a few holes to be sure but this was obvious.

Now maybe it had spent some time in the water or was cold or who knows what all. I named it "NoFli" because it just sort of knuckleballs up then back down without ever looking like it was soaring and gliding. Very short off my driver, short of a mid-iron, just short.

I'm curious as to who actually does the behind the scenes work on the Maxfli Tour balls.  I know that Foremost (Taiwan) is the manufacturer, but who does DSG's source out the R&D etc...?

Price?

Sorry they didn't have a price tag on the shelf. I'll check to see if they put a price tag on the shelf the next time I stop in.

It looks like they will be releasing a new lower compression model for 2023. They had a Tour S listed along with the Tour and Tour X on the back of the box.

I hope they increase the durability of the yellow ball. It ages very quickly compared to the white ball. But I don't like using white balls anymore!

I really like the yellow ball.  Regardless, if they offered the yellow in the 4 doz. pack I would have bought them instead of the white.

until they can harden the finish on the yellow ball you're better off with the white.

Has there always been 3 models of this ball?

I was under the impression it was only 2 models

The Tour and the Tour X

Is the Tour S a new ball?

Will have to check this out

I liked the old alignment aid better but that is a personal preference

The Tour-S is a new ball.  It appears to be a softer version probably in line with Chrome Soft or AVX.

... Murphy's Law. I just ordered The Box for $119 last week taking advantage of $20 off and $40 in rewards so $65 for 4 dozen. The only thing I don't like about the Tour are the two lines above/below the CG marking. I am not an alignment fan to begin with but on my home course #1 and #18 border the range and there are always range balls on the fairway and those CG lines make it look like a range ball so it can be hard to identify. My summer course is even worse and #1 is covered in range balls. The *new* cg line is so much cleaner.

Whoa! good heads up.  Looks like they are imitating the full titleist main production line by adding an AVX copy.  I do not mean that in a negative way at all.  Actually excited about it.  Look forward to trying some out!

Ballnamic fit me into the AVX and I've really been enjoying it. Definitely going to give the Tour S a shot. I wonder if the value packs last year were proof of concept and now they'll stay at the $39 spot since most of us know it's a good ball. Hope not!

I am worried about the same thing.  Hopefully they start at least offering a 2 for $60 on these new models by middle of next year. But we shall see
