New Tour Edge Exotics Irons?

Looking at the photos from the press release of Bernhard Langer signing with Tour Edge I don't recognize the irons in his bag. They do not look like the EXS Pro Forged.

He is definitely not someone who changes irons just for the sake of it. Loved his old 2014 set of mixed Hogan Apex and Adams Idea Pro

Official release is Tuesday for the new irons in the lineup.

Yes, @Homerun2Birdie it looks like the C721 irons in Langer's bag for the Tour Edge photos. 

 

Cast 17-4 stainless steel hollow body construction? Not quite the forged Hogan Apex, Adams Idea Pro or Artisan irons he had in the past. VIBRCOR (thermoplastic polyurethane) injected to tame the sound and feel. This all seems a bit like Ping i500 or Taylormade P770/790. It will be interesting to see if Langer actually games these C721 irons or has a blend of the EXS Pro Forged/Blades instead.

Specs are up on Rock bottom. Pretty aggressive lofts, but I'm fine with that.

No way is this what Langer bags. Gotta be a mixed set of the Exotics CB's & MB's. I do not see him going that far in a different direction with all of the recent success he has had. Drivers, Fairways and Hybrids have always been really good.

Impressed with a few things from that video.

 

Despite being a few degrees weaker, the C721 was pretty close to the distance of the E721,

 

The C721 had a fade bias.

 

The vertical dispersion of the E721 for a "power bat" as Crossfield calls these types of irons was pretty tight.

Have a friend that got promotional emails on them and ordered them already. They will be in tomorrow and I'll get his feedback. They are offering 30 days money back. He had his custom built loft lies length and even swing weight. They turned them around in 2 days. The rep told him he won't be returning them because they are so good. He already owns PXG Gen3s so this will be a good shootout for him.

Does Tour Edge offer a full line of shaft options with this club? Web site shows the available shafts and the heaviest one is the Elevate VSS 95.

We used to do work on Bernhard’s clubs when I was in Boca. His equipment is definitely “if it’s not broke don’t fix it”. I always joked with him about his beloved Hogan Apex 2 iron. It was a raw finish with the top line and toe ground to make it even smaller. A ball could literally barely fit on the face it was ground so small.

Got these fitted from the driver, fairway, hybrid, to the AW.  Great set.  If you get fitted Tour Edge will put any shaft you want in them.  This company is what Ping and Callaway were in the 90s.  I just hope they can maintain their customer focus and not forget what is making then great.
