Footjoy 2021?

Recommended Posts

I was just looking at the Footjoy web site at shoes.  It looks like they dumped all the high end models (Icon Black, Dryjoy Tour, 1857 line).  The best they had was a Tour X model but to me the sole looked like something for Spiderman (I'm a senior and tastes are more subtle).  Looking at shoes for my wife it was really dismal.  Luckily I have several pair each of Dryjoy Tour and Icon Black but at the start of each season I like to get a pair or two to keep the rotation fresh.  Not this year apparently.  I've worn only Footjoy models for more than 30 years but it seems they are now going a different direction.

This year’s line might be the best one in years when you look at the standard offering mixed with what you can do with the MyJoy platform.

Those Premere's look nice. They didn't appear on the web site.  Hopefully they will be available soon.

They aren’t officially released until 15th February. They should show up then. I am with you as it comes to the type of shoes that you like to wear. I am going to miss MyJoy Icons and I, for one, never understood why more people didn’t realise just how good the Icon Blacks are/were. So so comfortable but classic looking.

Got my hands on a pair of the white Tarlows a couple of days ago.  Definitely lighter weight in hand than either the DryJoy Tours or or the Icons.  Really looking forward to trying on a pair in my size.

I need a shoe with support and structure. These just look a bit too fancy for my style.

The Tarlow model is definitely the jazziest of the three designs which are coming. Take a look when they release the new lines on 15th February. Sure that you will find something which meets your eye.

I also have a pair of Tour X and they are great!

Do you mind telling me what you like, and possibly don't like, about the Tour X? Looking at getting a pair but with stores closed right now its hard to get a chance to actually try them on anywhere. Don't want to drop a bunch of money just to find out I don't like them and or they tear my feet up. Had a pair of DNA's wayyyyyyyy back in the day but they destroyed the skin on my achilles and I couldn't get them to break in so got rid of them after a month

I do kind of like those white wing tip looking shoes, but I doubt any stores close to me will stock them. I always wanted to try the Icons, but could never find them. The stores around here didn't even carry DryJoys. They carry all kind of spikeless shoes, and shoes that look like sneakers, but not traditional looking golf shoes.

I am a little interested in the new hyper flex boa in grey, anyone seen in person or tried on?

I have only tried a pair on, so can’t speak for how they’ll be on the golf course, but I was very favorably impressed.  Incredibly comfortable underfoot, and the BOA seems to really lock your foot into place.

I think you will really like them. I have posted a little mini review in the other footjoy thread. I have had one round on mine and they are the most comfortable golf shoe that I have had. But that’s not even the main reason I like them. Like said earlier the way the BOA tightens up it really locks your foot in. It’s hard to explain until you put them on and tighten them up. Best way I can describe it is that they feel molded to your feet. I like the feel so much I’ve tried to search for regular tennis/running shoes that have the same BOA system.

Has anybody seen or tried the Footjoy Traditions. Looks like an interesting shoe - lightweight, leather and waterproof - maybe a perfect spring time shoe? Good price point as well.

I also have the Traditions. I have had one round in them and they are very comfortable as well. It’s almost shocking how light they are. When you see them you think traditional looking shoe then you pick them up and are like wow. I think they will be a hit for those that like the traditional look but want some modern technology. And the price is hard to beat. I really like them and they would be my favorite shoe if I wouldn’t have also picked up the hyperflex BOA’s. Footjoy is gonna have an awesome line up this year in my opinion.

Thanks for the reply 👍

I only saw them on the website today but really like the look of them. I have been wearing pro SL for a few years now but fancy something that looks a bit more traditional.

I read that they come up a little big - is that your experience?

I would agree with that. I’m a 12 in almost every shoe I own. And when trying these on the 11.5 wide actually fit and felt the best.

Thanks -  that's great. I read elsewhere that they are 0.5 out compared to most other Footjoys, appreciate the confirmation before I order the wrong size!

I think I'm just going to go with the plain white but at this price level if they turn out to be comfy I'll be happy to buy more than one pair.

I do not think you will be disappointed. The round I wore them it was a semi chilly day (50s) and they seemed to be quite breathable, even though being leather. My feet didn’t get as warm as they do say with my dryjoy tours so for that reason like you said I think they will be a great spring and even summer shoe.

And the all whites are a great choice.

Snagged the all white traditions today, seems like the ultimate shoe to me. I think functionally the hyperflex  BOAs are probably more stable but this is the best traditional style shoe I’ve ever worn. Super light, super stable, and super comfortable. Also great price point for leather.
