Hey everyone! I currently play a combo t200 4-5 and t100s 6-9 with SM8s 46 50 54 60. I am planning on reverting back to the stock PW and GW for my t100s. My question is how would I go about the wedge gapping? The stock PW is 44 and GW is 48. I hit the simulator earlier and used the baseline numbers with 48 degree gap wedge and this is what I got. Any feedback is greatly appreciated!! Thank you!

6° separation for me. 44° AP2 PW, Vokey 50° GW, and Vokey 56° SW.

Interesting data. Seems to confirm Vokey's 4* gapping rule. I use the stock t100s PW with sm8 48, 52, 56, 60 wedges.

I currently have the GW at 48, 54 and 60 Vokey.  My numbers are a little higher than the OP so I have a little more gap but I like to hit partial shots with wedges.   That said, I have a 54

Looks like you in fact play two gap wedges (48 and 52)?  I can understand the need to with the 44 degree PW.  I play t200s (43 degree PW) and have been debating the same approach you have taken.

You're right, I am probably carrying more wedges than I really need. My OCD and prevented me from varying the loft gaps. In retrospect, I could have simply gone with a 50, 56, and 60. Or 50 and 58.  :Oh Well:

@GrandmasterJ WoW.

😛  Being an honest to goodness feel player, I can't imagine six wedges.  I have 3 if you count PW, and all irons have more traditional lofts.  I like to keep it stupid simple. LOL

I am curious, are you skilled enough with your first or second shot to insure you lay up to the yardages of one of those wedges?  If so, what determines which yardage to you hit to?

I dont have 6 wedges hahahah! I usually play 46 50 54 60 but I am going back to my stock PW and GW which are 44 and 48 degrees respectively. I went 5 wedges just to test them out to see how ill round the last two wedges in my bag hahah either the traditional 4 degrees 52 and 56 or go 6 degrees 54 and 58? Thanks!!

I am going with a set of 4-G t100s this year. My plan is to play a 54 and a 60 rather than the 52/56/60 that I have used in the past. I am hoping less choices ends with more confidence around the green. I can see where someone with a strong multi wedge game would struggle with a decision on what to put into the bag though.

The yardage gap from your 54 to your 48 degree gap wedge, any idea what it will be? I hit the T100s GW about 125-130 yards and I hit a 54 around 100-105. It’s a big reason why I sold them and might go back to the regular lofted set.

I use T100S and go 48-52-58.  It works out perfectly for me.

I am waiting on my t100s gap wedge to come, I initially only ordered 4-P. I am hoping to be around the same as you with the gap, and maybe 105 with the 54. In my mind I would rather hit a nice easy 1/2-3/4 gap than a full 52. My hope is to just hit more controlled shots with the gap and use it from 125-100 out. Then use the 54 around the green and 100 yds in

I wish I had ordered the t100s 2 weak, but I really like them so I am going to stick with them for the entire 2021 season. I had 8 iron sets last year so this will be a tough experiment for me, but I think my game will benefit from familiarity.

Did I read that right, 44 PW and Gap is 48???  WOW - my PW is 47 and Gap/SW is 52.  Dang that seems like it's going to call for a lot more practice.  Good luck.

I got some data from the simulator today and my 48 goes 125-130 and the 54 goes about 105-110, and the 58 is about 85-90. Does that sound correct? I tried the 52 but my issue is i hit that around 120 so it seems redundant. Thanks for any input!!!

I bent the PW to 45* and then play 50, 54, 58 wedges. If you want the t100s gw then you could just go 54, 60.

All depends on what yardages you are faced with most often on the courses you play.

I mostly play my home course with only a few games at courses elsewhere so it makes more sense for me to set my bag up for my home course.

I have been using shotscope pretty much since the v2 was launched so have over 3 years worth of data gathered and I found that I virtually never have an approach shot of more than 160 yards (whith the exception of the 2 par5's) the bulk of my approaches are between 40-130 yards and most of my bogeys were coming in the 110-130 range.

My wedge setup had been

Pw 135yds

50 121yds

54 104yds

58 90yds

I found that I was constantly having to manufacture shots taking a bit off a pw or 50 or thump a 50 or 54 to make the yardages. When I haven't played for a couple of weeks (due to 2 kids under 3) I couldn't feel it and ended up missing greens and dropping shots.

Shotscope also showed that I never had my 4 or 5 iron out the bag the whole of last year so no point in having them. I have simplified the top end of my bag as I was a bit top heavy and not using most of the clubs in favour of having more wedges and tighter gaps at the bottom end.

I now have 3 new wedges in the bag and changed shafts to match my irons in 49 and 52 and have the following setup.

Pw 135yds

49 125yds

52 115yds

56 105yds

58 90yds

I still need to get some games under my belt with them but my logic is that my old set of mp68 the pw was 48 and 9 iron 45, my mp18 pw is 46 so I am now counting this as my old 9i, the 49 is now my old pw and then 52, 56 58 bent to 59 is just the same setup at the bottom end that I had played my best with for the 10 years prior to changing my irons to mp18 when they came out a few years ago.

I can try and feel like I am playing a draw and I can get an extra couple of yards out of each club which then makes the yardages blend into each other so I have no unmanageable gaps that I cant hit a yardage, pw, 49 and 52 are all full swing clubs that the only variance will be if I hit it normal or feel a draw to get a couple of extra yards from it.

56 is a mix of full shots and partials and the 58 is only for partials.

Don't go with what looks good to give uniform gaps on paper, analyse your game and find where you are weak and give more options in that area.

I currently have the GW at 48, 54 and 60 Vokey.  My numbers are a little higher than the OP so I have a little more gap but I like to hit partial shots with wedges.

That said, I have a 54 (bent to 53) and 58 on order with matching shafts to tighten up the gaps a bit. I do use my 4 and 5 iron enough that I could not go to 52, 56, 60.... but that is me.

Good call on the matching shafts! I have Project X LZ 6.0 throughout my set. I ended up getting another 54 and reverting back to the stock pw and gw and kept my 60. I am playing tomorrow so Ill see if I need to adjust anything with the lofts hopefully it'll be good to go tomorrow!

Good luck. I find that shaft easy to hit 3/4 shots accurate. Your signature shows a similar bag/ shafts setup so looking forward to any updates you have.

I played today and my set up of 44-48-54-60 works just fine!! Thank you to everyone who gave some advice! All I need to do now is bend them 1 degree upright to match the rest of my irons and I’ll be good to go! Hahah
