Callaway PM Grind update??

Recommended Posts

I got the silver 2.0  56°  a year ago... best sand wedge ever.. its really money from 60 and in for me. Sand with this thing... bring on and sand not worried. I havent flubbed one sand shot since... almost holed out of 2 bunkers and put a 30 sand shot to half a foot with backspin!!! What!!!... they didnt tell us it turns you into phil when you use it!?!? Definetly has saved me strokes... ordered a backup a month ago in the tour grey because i am terrified of the day i dont have one.

June should be just enough time to wear down the 19's, and post enough "Please don't change the sole grind," comments.

That reminds me, anybody know of any youtube video that explains the shots. I saw the quick one that they made but nothing indepth on how to do the Phlop or check up and 3 shots they advertise.

Go on YouTube and search “ Phil Mickelson short game”. The whole video is available.

I really like my 64* PM19 wedge for chipping.  I just wonder if the offset on them is so extreme that getting a 58* would honestly be weird for more full swings.  Really love the wedge itself, but I do have a lot of 100ish yard shots on my home course so not sure how odd it would be with a PM or not, the 64* is basically for nothing but shortsides etc..

I use a 54 and 58 PM19, I read all the complaints about maybe full swing will be hard when it first came out. I've had the wedge for 2 years now, no issues going full swing. I keep trying to replace the PM19 but keep coming back. Maybe it's the offset, not sure but something about it makes it easier to hit that other wedges and I've been searching, Vokey, Mizuno ES21, TM, etc.

Thats totally fair, I played some Ping ES wedges with their offset and loved them!

Tried the PM Grind twice - just could not do it long term. I had Edels so it wasn't the grooves to the edge - I like that. It wasn't the grind, I've played that grind before in an earlier Phil wedge. It was that high toe - and the fact the club did not feel "right." If they came out with a shape I preferred, I'd take a loot at it.

But what I have now is great out of the bunker.

I know the media embargo lifts on the new ball this Tuesday, but I’ve heard nothing about a new wedge and I’d think I would’ve if it’s coming. Maybe it is, but...

Well, unfortunately my Callaway PM19 Grind 60/10 after years of great use has come to its EOL, you can only re-groove a wedge a limited number of times.

Purchased a new Callaway Jaws, but it lacks the wider upper face surface area for those flop shots and sits higher off the playing surface area against the ball than the PM19 Grind.

I am not sure if Callaway had a political or financial reason for dropping the PM19 Grind, but IMHO it was a very successful fully grooved full face wedge that allowed amateur golfer's to become more creative and confident at wedge play from all types of lies.

My playing partners were always amazed at my wedge play with this Callaway PM Grind wedge, especially around the greens and bunker plays with shots they would cringe at.

My Callaway Jaws is just not the same wedge as the PM19 Grind and does not allow me the shot option versatility that the PM19 Grind provided.

I wish Callaway would have continued with the production and development of this wedge, as I think there is a dedicated selective market still for it.

But I don't have the Callaway sales numbers for the PM19 Grind sold, but like all golf manufactures, they have to adjust their technology to promote and sell more product to remain competitive and profitable.

Callaway PM19 Grind RIP...........you will be dearly missed.

I completely agree with what you said.  I have had both versions of the PM grind and with those wedges was able to play to a short game level way better than my index.  I have tried Jaws Full Face and TM Hi-Toe but neither of them offer the same versatility.  Also tried the ES grind PING.

I have just ended up going back to some new SM9s.  I am enjoying them but it isn’t the same!

PM grind got scrapped due to poor sales and golf stores sending a ton of inventory back to Callaway. Which was great for finding some brand new back-ups on CPO.  This all went down before the relationship between Callaway and Phil was paused.

Hi all, has anyone had any success finding a pm Grind replacement?

I tried the Jaws full face and CBX full toe, both literally just normal wedges with grooves across the face.

The pm grinds ability to pretty much lie flat was a game changer, bunker play and bad lies were automatic. Very frustrated with replacements just not being as good as what was an incredible club.

Hopefully Cally will come to their senses and resign Phil once he's back on PGAT.

Mine too but I never bought any backups and hit a rock in the rough and put a big upwards dent in the toe 😭

I have a 64* that I use anywhere and everywhere and I don't want to bump it out because I can't replace it. But it's beat to hell and really needs to be replaced.
