Matte finish balls....picking up more mud?

Anyone notice this?

I don't normally play them, but when I have, they seem to pick up a ton of dirt/mud and it's harder to clean off.

I have NO idea if this applies to mud, but I believe the MGS testing has shown that matte finish balls don't shed water as well as the "standard" finish, and behave at least marginally less consistently when wet.

When I tried some matte balls I noticed they would pick up and keep grass stains more vs a regular painted ball.

I've noticed that "in general" matte balls get stained easier and stay tend to stay stained (simply wiping with a wet towel doesn't remove grass/mud stains as well as it does with a standard painted ball).  Some models may differ.  I have not noticed matte balls having more mud on them (mud ball) than other balls when I get to them after landing on a wet fairway or after a steep descent on a green.  I don't mind playing them despite the staining but not currently playing a matte ball.

If the matte finish also has a slight texture or is somehow not as smooth as the gloss ball, I would expect it to not shed mud and water like a high gloss would. I did not consider that, but now I want to try it out.

 That was my observation as well.

 Wiping with a went towel just doesn't get them clean.
