Ping 425 fairway shafts - Alta CB 65 slate vs Tensei AV Orange 75

Recommended Posts

Currently playing the G400 with the Alta CB shafts.

LOVE it in my 4 hybrid. It's ok in the 4 H, 4wood and driver.

I need launch and spin.

See that both the new Alta CB 65 slate and the Tensei AV Orange 75 in stiff are counter balanced, virtually the same weight (67, 68 grams) and suggested launch angle of "mid".

Since we are stuck in lockdown I'd be very interested in any feedback on these shafts as we all can't get in to demo.

FORE!

Thanks 🙂

Opp here.

BTW I'm looking to pick up a 3 Max (adjusted up to 16) and a 7 wood (adjusted down to 19).

This is primarily for off the deck shots. Figure the 7 wood will give me more spin, height and distance than the 3 H. Hoping that the 3 Max is better launching head than the 400.

Any feedback on that would be welcome.

Be well!

The Alta CB shafts don't really change that much or at all model to model.  Usually color scheme is the only change.  So if you have had good success with Alta then go with Alta.

Thanks Tbone. Appreciate that.

As you can see I feel they are only ok in the longer clubs.

Why I'm looking for a comparison to the Tensei

I'm interested in this too!!!

So briefly...driver SS max 90mph and currently play the G410 3 and 5 woods.

3W (turned to 15.5) originally had the tensei orange in 70s, for me played soft to flex but the CB messed with my swing, couldn't feel the head. Swapped out for a Tour AD Di 7 I had in an epic 3w (so with Cally having a high BBTG  it basically played to a 'soft' stepped in the Ping). Love it!! Carry off the deck is @200 yards (I know an embarrassment compared to most wrxers 😞) but it's the best 3W I've ever hit. I have a very flat swing plane so the shallow head a hot face is great!

So being the junkie that we all are I am looking at the G425 max to see if I can get even better performance off the deck. Wondering if I should go Ping tour 75 or Rogue 80 'soft stepped'

5W (turned to 19*) in the PX 80 EF black. IMHO this plays really soft to flex! The two things going against it are the face is closed and the shaft is too soft. Performance wise it is super easy to hit off the deck but a little inconsistent. So I am looking at the G425 7 wood turned strong to 19.5 with the Rogue 80 tipped 1'. Better gapping, better face angle and stiffer shaft.

Side note - I will be asking for a 3w head 1* open at standard and 7w 1* closed at address so when adjusted they will be perfectly square. God bless Ping for their super customization options .

Looking forward to hear how others are hitting the g425's.
