So I watched coverage from like 2-3pm EST. Why do they keep showing Rory, JT, and Bryson when they were a combined +18 over or something like that. I can understand showing 1 shot so we know where they are in the standings, but they did this last week with Mickelson and it's really annoying.

Seems so strange finishing the coverage when the main groups are 12 or 13 holes into their round. Is there a reason why they have brought the coverage to end like that...beyond CBS being terrible.

 

Fortunately, we Sky Sports are showing the Featured Group stuff now and we have Ewen Murray and Rich Beem to bring us through it.

Just seems so bizarre, I get that that it’s not at the business end of the tournament but cutting off where they are is tantamount to switching the coverage off two thirds of the way through the first half and then coming back at the beginning the second. So, so stupid.

It's all about the Benjamins.  Coverage is still streaming live for $9.99/month.  NBC doesn't get much for GC from cable/satellite, but NBC Sports Gold makes them a ton I suspect.

yes, they are trying to force people to buy nbc sports gold streaming packages .  Its garbage. .  yet they are showing some live lookins on golf central right now

That is garbage. They keep saying you can watch on NBC live, but they fail to mention it costs you money. I see this as a backfire. I'm not paying $100 to watch 5 groups finish holes on Thursday and Friday....not happening.

I'm sure NBC will make a fortune from the 5 or 6 people who are paying for their streaming tournament coverage. Of course they are still paying all of the techs and talent the same as they would if they were airing it on GC. Plus they are paying Cara and Notah and the techs in Stamford to occupy 2 hours of airtime. Of course they are raking in the ad revenue from the likes of the distributor of The Hammer. Regardless, I think their business case may be a little faulty.

The great thing about this weekend...firms greens. Players accepting a dropped shot instead of doing the bog standard flop shot which sits on a dime. I just love the variety of holes this venue offers.

Sam Burns is already sitting in the range of the winning score. He’s won on the KF Tour but we all know it’s hard to get that first PGA win. Looking back since 2000, -7 to -17 has won this bad boy. A lot of people lurking and the course is playing firm. Gonna be a fun weekend to watch.  I’d bet on someone sitting at -5 or -6 right now, just my feeling.

It's only a matter of time before he wins. We're seeing him at the top more and more often.

 

I'm betting on Sam hitting a few more fairways the next two rounds. He's leading by 5 and only finding 37% of the fairways this week. He hits it a little straighter and the field will feel even more pressure. I'm rooting for the kid! Go Tigers!

As an LSU alumnus I really want to see Sam get his first win. He can be a big time player for years.  He's been in the top a lot lately.
