WILSON D300 IRONS

Just picked up a set on EBAY and upon arriving and un-boxing, noticed that these irons have all the logos/grips/colors that say Wilson Staff, but and it's a BIG but, they do not have the power slots. I'm awaiting a reply from Wilson CS, but thought I'd ask here to see if anyone may have any information and/or advice.

Are they D300 or D350? The 350 line didn't have the power slots.

I'd shoot them an email or hit them up on Twitter if you can't find anything online, they may be able to give you some more info.

EDIT: I just Googled and saw the 300 SL line at a few retailers. I know Wilson sometimes takes older heads and slaps them on a uniflex or R flex shaft to move old inventory, this is the first time I've seen them take a head normally with power holes and just have them without. Interesting.

The clubs all show D300 logo. It's interesting that as you stated, the D350 iron also don't have those power slots. I've emailed Wilson and they replied that they will get back to me in 3 or 4 work days. I just find it additionally interesting or rather perplexing, that there's absolutely no information any where on these clubs. Just what does SL actually stand for and could these be in fact really the 350 with the 300 logo. Kind of makes you go hmmmm!.

I owned the D300s for a few seasons and those are the same heads, just without the power holes. It may be that they re-used the molds and just didn't go with the power holes to save on costs, looks like these sets can be found for around $250-$300 new so that would explain it.

If you Google around, the D350 line is equipped with FST SL shafts, so that might be where the SL designation comes from possibly.

Just received a reply/request from Wilson, asking for pics of the clubs so they can verify if real (older model) or fake. I find this interesting unto itself, that they need pics. This lends me to believe that there are fakes out there. Anyway, we shall see after I send them some pics.

Here is one of the pics being sent and I've noticed that the wording superlight is in the position were normally it would say FLXface

It’s like others have said. SL being super light without the power holes. Usually has a 5-GW or a 4 hybrid through PW in the set. I’ve seen a set and for the money it’s a great set. Other OEM have done this in the past with various GI/SGI irons. Just google d300 SL Irons. It’ll show various places to purchase this iron set. Why Wilson doesn’t list them on their site is unknown. Local 9 hole course is a major Wilson, Wilson Staff dealer and he’s got a new set in the shop.

I have and your correct, but I find it a bit disconcerting when the OEM asks for pics.......

I would doubt anyone would waste time to fake Wilson Irons, no offense to anyone who play WIlson staff( I do, I have an old Di7 set from 2008 ) but you can fake other club as easily and those would be worth twice the price out there. They have a bad reputation that is sadly not deserved, Best club for the money for sure out there

Have to agree with that, but as I stated prior, when the OEM asks for pics, it lends itself to doubts. What really has me somewhat perplexed is why issue basically the same club, but with out the new "power slots" or whatever they call them. Both models have FLXface tech and should both be at the limits for flex and ball speed generation. So I'm guessing that it's nothing more than marketing hype.
