Having to stamp "forged" of part of it is forged. Or "tungsten" if there is tungsten. Or "laser beams" if their are laser beams...

The Visual marketing on irons drives me crazy.  I know what my irons are, you do not need to stamp/paint marketing terms on them!

FORGED!!

TUNGSTEN!!

They might as well stamp "for sale" on them as well. Or "metal" or a spot with an arrow that says "grooves"... I agree.

I hadn't heard that about Ping's irons, but that would definitely make (intuitive) sense.  I thought I had heard it explained as it moves mass away from the hosel and moves the COG more toward the middle of the iron.

I think easier and more often from what I've heard. Could be wrong, but I've read that too many loft and lie adjustments will eventually break a club, but the notch let's you do it more times before that happens.

I am SUPER passionate about this even though it affects me so little because i buy my own headcovers anyway, which anyone can see in my avatar

BUT ....why do MFR's make headcovers that BARELY fit over the head of their drivers? I've seen this so much recently. Like you buy a driver and the sales guy gets the headcover, and i'm like "this doesn't fit" and he'll say "oh for sure it does!" and then pull it down like an olympic weightlifter to get it on. Probably half the drivers i've bought in the past 3-4 years, getting the headcover on is a real chore, like what, was there a shortage of materials that you couldn't make this thing 5% bigger? Or maybe use stretchier material?

It takes me back to my college days, when i had the same issues trying to get on size XXXL condoms

If its too loose you wont feel it go in... dont you know this? Your suppose to like the tight squeez in.

The last time I bought a custom headcover, it was for a hybrid, it was a Stich cover.  It was too loose, it kept falling off the hybrid and I kept having to go back and find it all over the course.  Finally I lost the stupid thing.  I prefer the covers that come with the clubs because they fit.  🙂

  1. The cutout on the hosel of the Ping irons bothers me.  I'm sure there's a reason for it, but don't care for it.

Can't play Ping irons because of this. Totally irrational, I get why it is there, and Ping make great clubs, but it bothers my eye so much it makes me shudder just to think about it. There is probably a technical phobia term for it (notchophobia?).

Any sort of alignment guides on grips be it a brand logo - looking at you, GolfPride - or overdone patterns. I just don't even get why they're necessary - I'm opening/closing the clubface at setup just as often if not more often than squaring it so they're actually detrimental as it just messes with my OCDness.

This is my only issue with JMX Ultralites (their wraps are just WAY too heavy) but I'm tolerating it for now.

I hate iron badges, please let’s move away from the Nascar look

i don’t like the comment on ferrules fwiw

my badgeless zx7 irons look solid with white and silver ring ferrules ...

also I despise the weights and ridges on the sole side of fairways and hybrids that completely fill with dirt in soft conditions

Me too.  But what's the reason you dont like it?

IMO it violates the rule there should be no crap on a high end golf club.  How many PGA Pros have this grip.  The answer is 0.

Why PING would do this as standard equipment is a big mystery to me and quite frankly a deal killer.  I won't play these clubs which means I won't be buying them - which is more to the point.

Damn ribbed alignment grips bother the hell out of me. It’s the equivalent of a shoe manufacturer sewing a pebble underneath the insole.

And UPC stickers and what not that just rip instead of peeling off. Why?

Theft prevention - if they peeled off cleanly, unsavory folks could peel the stickers off and put new, lower-priced ones on.

Modern drivers are shaped like oblong saucer dishes. Who thought it was a good idea to black out the face of any driver or metal? Why are garish neon accent colors so widely used? Why is white used? A club should look like a 911 and a not a Chrysler Cordoba.

I end up "standard" on all my adjustable drivers/fairways/hybrids ---- would LOVE an option for a head you just have a shaft glued into.  I really miss that.

Don't really understand your issue. Even if you're using standard always then at the very least you have the option to change loft and shafts with ease, and even if you don't ever use it I don't see the downside.
