I haven’t played the G400, but I’ve had the G425 Max for 5 months now, and it’s by far the best driver I have ever played (coming from Sim Max, Epic Flash, R7, 905D). Incredibly forgiving and straight for me.  Just played Pebble and Spyglass and was 11-12/14 on fairways all 3 rounds.  It’s the misses that are so great…still go straight and don’t lose much if any distance.  This club won’t be leaving my bag anytime soon.

I can't seem to find any information on this but has anyone that has played both changed lofts from the g400 max to the g425 max? The g400 seems better in a 9 for me, yet the g425 seems to need a 10.5.

I went to 5 different shops to find a 425 9* that sat exactly like I wanted.....its all luck of the pick imo

The 425 is lower spin.

Sorry for bumping an old thread. How do people feel now after a year? I have G400 max and thinking about trading in for G425 max.

If 400Max has been optimized- it would be tuff to improve IMO

I had the G400 and now I have the G425 Max. Honestly, I cannot see or feel any difference. I have a Sky Trak at home and I have my stats of my older 400 and comparing the averages to 425, they are almost identical. at least for my own personal swing. However, I can HEAR the difference. lol 425 is LOUDER. Especially indoors. It really hurts my ears.

I hit the 425 max and Cobra last week thinking it was time for a change. Bottom line I walked out with my 400 max feeling 500 bucks richer. The 425 did nothing better or worse for me exactly the same. The Cobra maybe a touch longer but all over the place.  I am going to wait and see if Ping comes out with a new driver in January.

The 400 Max is absolutely in the same ballpark.  There may be differences on the margin but there are many 400 Max users that are staying with it.

My sense is that if you find a 400 Max with a shaft you know works for you, go with it.

Agreed but they are hard to find at a decent price.

What's so nice is that PING has lowered the price by $150 so now is the time to go G425, also especially since the new G430 will be out in January and who know how much those will cost

Based on the price increases when the Glide 4.0's and i59's were launched, I expect the G430 to be priced at a bazillion dollars.

Might be time for me to look at the G425 Max.

If price is the deciding decision then grabbing the 425Max makes sense.

My experience is the performance is similar with the G400-410-425 lineup standard models. Still play the G400 ( smaller.profile and quiet compared to the others) if the G430 is toned down at 460 and has  an uptick in performance then I'm saving my pennies err...nickels, dam* inflation.

I have played the G400 Max since it came out. Didn't care for the G410. When the G425 Max came out, I scooped one up right away. After range sessions and 5 rounds, the G425 is for sale and I have picked up a G400 Max backup. For me the 425 has terrible sound and my dispersion was all over the place with the exact same shaft/setup.

That was my exact experience. I wanted to love it. I love PING drivers. The G400 Max was my all time favorite driver. It looked great. I was excited to put it in the bag...but after a month all I found was that it was loud/clanky and wilder than a preacher's daughter.

My home range was blowing out their G425 demo clubs for a ridiculously low price. For a split second I thought about giving it a second chance, but just couldn't do it.

The 400LST (GOAT) and 400MAX are not able to be improved upon, they are perfect in every way.

Now, if you require something DIFFERENT (ie less than perfect) well then I am sure the 425 can provide that, I am just wondering why anyone would choose to not have perfection.

Like I posted in another thread, do you notice any loss of distance with the G400 Max compared to something like the Radspeed or Stealth? I might be getting older but Im still a pretty big/strong guy. Even when I smash my G400 overswing and all, I still cant get more than 275 yards out of it. Typically in the 255-270 range. I love the forgiveness and the fact it is a fairway finder, but I cant help but feel like Im sacrificing a decent amount of distance.

I know thats still good, but I feel like with a different driver those same 260-275 yard drives I have would be more like 285-290 with a 110-115mph swing.

I might be wrong and what I swing is what I swing but 1/2 my drives look like they are crushed to the moon only to find out they are 10 yards ahead of my friends ball who just hit a hooking low-liner.

I'm a low ball hitter. My miss is a low hook. I adjusted my 10.5 degree G400 Max to the big + setting to increase the loft, but it closes the clubface. If one hit low draws, looking at a closed clubface does not promote confidence.

I'd like to try a 12 degree G425 Max with the loft adjusted to the small +, which would have a bit more loft than the G400, but also open the face. In addition, I'd like to have the weights out on the toe.

I would assume at your swing speed literally anything will go further than the MAX with center face contact. The MAX is meant for people with low swing speeds, or people who can't find the center of the clubface. At 110-115 mph, you for sure can eek out another 10-20 yards, but you will 100% need a less forgiving club. You are playing the most forgiving, highest spin club of all time. Personally I would try a G400LST head, pop in on your shaft, and see if you don't get a couple pokes that go over 300 while still maintaining control.
