Hmm. Looking for something smoother in same weight.     Probably drop peak height in short clubs a touch too.

Wonder if he’s going S400 in his wedges.

Peter Kostis thinks is wedges are too

upright that’s why he’s not playing well.....

I saw this too and quite frankly PK can zip it. I liked him on the broadcasts but he's been bitter and running his yap a bit too much since. What does PK know that all the top fitters and technology don't know?

Yeah exactly, you have all of Taylormade, Michael Bannon, and Butch behind him

I moved from C Taper to X7 for that reason. I played C Taper since they came out but wanted something a little smoother feeling. Short irons fly a little lower.

Compared to this WITB posted a year ago, he has gone 1° flatter in the wedges.

Didn’t realize what that x7 didn’t mean x700 so I was thinking, “Damn. Those things must feel like you are hitting with a lead pipe.”

They are actually smoother than x100.  Don’t ask me how or why.  But they are.  And you’ll find multiple people who will say that.  They just have more feel of kick to them.  And the extra weight isn’t really noticeable compared x100 , or modus 130 that I play.    If I moved to anything it would be x7 again.  A guy like Rory who hits it really high can benefit from them if he likes the feel.  Definitely will control spin more with them.

Would be very surprised if this set was put in play this week. More likely it's a set built up for him to test.

Agreed. I have played PX 6.5 or X100 for the past 6-7 years or so. I play Modus 130x because I just couldn’t beat my dispersion, but it came down to Modus 130x and X7 for me and it was a tough choice because the X7 is definitely smoother than what I was used to with the X100’s.

Pfffft. Rors needs to get wrx to set him straight. No player is using game improvement PW loft of 46.5*.

Manly men use 50* minimum for PW..

I know right ?  Gahhhhh....what is wrong with these people.   Just look at my bag ,  everybody knows that 46.5 is optimal for scoring 😂

There's a recent video where Rory was asked what part of his game he would trade for someone else's on Tour. He relatively quickly said Justin Thomas' iron play.

Ever since I saw that I wondered when Rory was going to make the switch to try DG shafts. Not surprised to see him go for an X7 either. Identical stiffness and virtually identical bend profile to PX7.0.

Slightly stiffer in the mid and butt which should help lower the flight, while slightly softer in the tip should increase spin fractionally. Maybe he's after a slightly lower flight with what feels like more control. That or he just feels he needs to try and change something up.

This is very interesting...I have only played DG in my sets, and I'd have a really hard time switching out what I'm most comfortable with even if it helped me get a result I was after. I can see Rory just building this set to test and see what it's all about but ultimately sticking with PX.

100% that they feel smoother.

If this experiment of mine doesn't work out with CTaper Limiteds, I'll be back in the X7 so quickly.

Will be interested how this works out. The 7.0's are still 130 grams but don't "feel" that heavy when swinging and the X7's feel every bit the 132 grams and have a slightly larger butt end and Ror's still going with normal grips and wraps.

Just such a weird change for someone that's been in Project X for his entire career. He will definitely be hitting a different window with these as project x's launch fairly high for players with speed, spin is fairly low, and kind of ride their apex for while and dynamic golds launch lower, spin more, and sort of get to the apex and start coming down faster. Just seems like such a short time to get used to how these shafts load at a tournament with a ridiculously strong field and where a strong performance is worth a ton of owgr points. Clearly searching to make a run at that green jacket.
