Flight scope issue

Anyone know anything about flight scope? My friend has a setup in his garage and he is having issues with it and we still use it. The main issue is the spin. I’m going through a huge swing change so my thing right now is hitting balls, but does the spin effect distance? This is a 7 iron shot I normally hit a 7 iron 167 he said the spin numbers can be off sometimes 2000-4000. I’m not even sure I could try to hit a 7 iron 130 yards and this is a full shot.

If anything that low spin will artificially inflate carry. Those are PW launch conditions, so a few things could be going on. You might not hit it as far as you think, you hit that super fat, you have indoor swing syndrome, or some combination of all 3. You are down about 20mph in ball speed to get to 167 carry. They are typically very accurate with ball speed, so unless it's severely compromised by interference, it might not be the unit itself. What do your friends numbers look like?

I trust you're using the metallic stickers on the balls and they're aligned properly facing the target? The metallic stickers are used for spin indoors.

yeah...that isn't a spin issue...94 MPH of ball speed ain't getting it done.

Yes I’m using the stickers I have no idea where my swing speed has gone then.... this makes no sense I’m a 4 handicap and this isn’t cutting it. Maybe the x-100’s are to heavy for me now and I need different shafts. I did go from a strong grip to a neutral grip.

The high launch/low spin is a common result of hitting off mats. That's probably where the claim comes from of the spin being off. That doesn't really explain your issue for lack of ball speed, but it will definitely influence the launch and spin numbers.

I had a lower back issue last year which led to a lot of early extension and shanks. That’s what the swing change is now to eliminate that and use a neutral grip. I’m a healthy strong 37 year old firefighter and I’m very flexible. I know I have the swing speed I’m just not producing it I guess....

167 and 130 is a huge difference, one you would very easily see on the course. Some people try to over-swing when on a LM and actually lose speed, but the launch and spin are pretty off so very likely hit this one shot a bit fat as well. I personally wouldn't get too concerned about it.

FS sucks with spin indoors, even with the stickers IMO. Ya you're hitting off a mat but the ball is simply not spinning 2500. The numbers are wrong. Radars sometimes double or halve the spin, I would guess the true spin would be around 5k which is somewhat reasonable off a mat with a 7 iron(although you likely spin it more than this outside off grass).
