Tensei AV Raw TX Flex Shafts Now a No-Upcharge Offering from Titleist?!

Thought was it’s not a prototype anymore, it’s the new TX flex for the line...so it may not say that. Does that answer your question?

It's listed on the MCA website as the Prototype 2.0 TX flex, it's listed on Titleist's website as the 2.0 TX. So I think it's fair to assume It's gotta be marked 2.0 somewhere otherwise you wouldn't be able to differentiate it from the original TX.

According to some reputable folks on the forums, Titleist is not using “made for” shafts and everything they offer is real deal. The AV Proto 2.0 has sub 3 torque and many consider it Mitsubishi’s competitor with the Ventus. I like the AV Raw White TX and came from the Pro Whire TX. I found the raw white to give me better numbers and consistency.

I agree with the product lines, though. Tensei line was always hard to tell what is real deal and not, what has boron tip, etc. Fuji keeps it simple - velo or non-velo.

Titleist is using the real deal AV RAW.  What i'm saying is this line is like the Tensei CK line which was "real" as well but really a stock shaft.  The Tensei Pro's successor is the 1K which is the high end real deal.  With that said I'm hearing GREAT things about the Tensei 1K white.

Fair enough, I was thinking now that it was the TX offering it was no longer a prototype.  Just curious what these shafts will look like that come with the TSi, if someone can confirm it looks like the picture above, that's great.  If not, also great.  I have a few weeks to wait before I find out, so was just wondering if anyone already knew.

If I recall correctly Paul Casey was using AV Raw in both white and orange at various times earlier this year.  Seems unlikely he would use a stock shaft.  I think these are just different variations on the original CK line, as I think someone had noted above.  Maybe 1k has premium materials and a better profile, but I don't think its fair to call the av raw a stock shaft.  My .02

There is one on Ebay with a titleist tip marked like that, might be fair to assume they bought it with the intent to flip it.

And he is also likely playing a TX . They are the stock shaft in the terms that is what you get from the OEM, they just aren't oem specific anymore. Perhaps instead of "stock" or "made for", we can instead say standard and premium offerings, with the TX flexes being the premium product that typically demands an upcharge. You can buy either version at retail, unlike the Ventus non-velocore which is only available from TM.

Agreed. Some brands are much more transparent than others with which is premium and which is not.

The Tensei CK line and CK Pro were differentiated by the boron tips (and different colored handles) and the CK Pros were marked “boron” on the tip. Every flex in the CK Pro line had the boron and retailed at $350. With the AV Raw line, they only put the boron in the tip of the TX flexes, hence the $350 retail, vs the other flexes, which don’t have the boron, and retail at $250. The lack of transparency is apparent, as the TX flexes don’t have a “boron” marking on the tip. It’s getting very confusing to decipher what offerings are premium vs. stock vs. made for, etc.

I’ve heard Titleist does not use “made for” shafts and everything they offer is the same shaft you can buy aftermarket.

Yes, the TX had better materials in it than other flexes which is why they had an upcharge but the line itself was meant for OEM's like the CK line.  It's also why there was a White TX 2.0.

@GolfmanNewYork14 I compared the specs on Mitsubishi site against Titleist.  Other than "S", "X", Tensei AV Raw White, it doesn't appear Titleist is offering TX version without upcharge.

Yes they are, they have confirmed it and it's right on their website if you build a club. Select AV raw white and there is the S, X, and Tour X 2.0 flex option.

I'm so sick. I ordered a TSi3 a month ago with the stock X and then bought a Proto 2.0 at aftermarket price because they said they weren't offering TX. I even spoke directly to a rep about it. So I wasted $300 on a no uncharge shaft.

It was well documented in the original Tsi thread that this TX was coming but not until January.  I don’t recall  the thought was that it would be offered as free though.

Check out GolfUSAManhattan.com. They sell any Titleist shaft offering as just a shaft. Anything that Titleist has no upcharge for is $175, the Proto 2.0 TX included.

As a follow up to my GolfUSAManhattan.com order, I received the real deal 2.0 for $175. This is a great deal. Wish 80 tx was offered.

  • 6 months later...

is the TX truly tour stiff?

What ss and tempo are you guys at that you want the TX?

I was fitted to a GD AD XC 6/7 in X, but seeing as those are a 200$ upcharge I'm looking at the raw white in TX or X. Since TX has the boron tip I'm tempted to jump up a flex for the "value".

I'm at 113 swing speed but I'm relatively new to the game after coming back from hiatus, and I think I can get my SS up with practice. Right now I'm swinging at what feels perfectly natural. I am not going out of my way to swing fast, and I feel like once I am more confident in my driver I can "try" to swing fast and add a little more speed
