The Stack System

Is it overkill to do Super Speed and The Stack System simultaneously? I guess it won't differentiate if one is better than the other.

I do Super Speed on M/W/F and The Stack on T/Th/F.

I am two weeks into Super Speed and my number keep going up. I've done the Stack for two sessions and numbers keep getting higher.

Should I do both on the same day and take a day of rest in between training sessions for the sake of recovery?

That might be overdoing it. But it might be a good idea to alternate them, with a day off in-between. So Super Speed on Monday, Stack on Wednesday, SS on Friday, Stack on Monday, etc.

I do think that it could be overkill as well. I guess it depends on what you are doing. For me I try and do the stack every other day and try and maintain a good grit score. I also workout every day which includes lifting weights, cardio and core workouts (cable rotations, med ball throws, etc) so for me doing the stack and superspeed on top of lifting weights, cardio and core workouts is a lot.

Just a little update on my progress. Last December (12/31) when I started Fit for Golf I took a baseline of my swing speed and i was at 92 mph average on 10 swings with my lowest speed being 89mph. I started the stack in May and I just finished my second go around with the foundations program and my driver baseline now is 109mph with my fastest being 113mph. The next program it recommended for me was the neural drive so I am excited to change it up and gain more speed.

Man that is awesome!!  Great work.  Do you feel the stack system justifies its premium price tag?

I've lost a lot of speed, just want to get it back. With Super Speed I started at 92 mph, two weeks later I recorded my highest speed at 107.

I have a long way to go with both programs. Plus I am also using the Golf Forever app to gain mobility, flexibility and core strength.

Thank you!! Ive never used super speed before so can't speak to that but with the speed I've gained this past summer and my handicap trending down it has been very worth it for me. The app really also makes the product so much better/worth it in my opinion

I'm really interested in doing some speed training this off season, and I'm sold on the stack system... the thing that stinks for both of them is you have to pay the $100-200 for a radar to track your swing speed!

I'm thinking I will pick up the PRGR and the Stack System for $600 and not buy a new driver this season.

I recently paid $150 for a used PRGR, FYI.

How much has everyone tested the "Distance Potential" against on-course results or a high-end launch monitor?

I have not yet. Will start getting on a launch monitor once winter hits but have to keep in mind how distance potential is calculated:

For the Distance Potential metric, we use the following:

  • 90° F temperature
  • 1,000 ft. elevation
  • Total distance (carry + roll)
  • Moderately firm fairways
  • Neutral Angle of Attack
  • Optimized launch conditions (club fitting efficiency)
  • 2019 ProV1x Ball

Great investment! Excellent product, but the app is what makes it special. You'll like the PRGR unit, too.

I'm discovering that I have a LONG way to go in optimizing ball speed relative to how fast I swing it AND trying to improve on-course speed vs. my Stack workouts.

Baseline dry driver swings were ~105 mph. On-course I'm more like 95-98 but only getting totals of 235-240. Feel like there's some potential in there.

Sometimes I feel like I’m regressing.

I don't see how this protocol could reduce speed.  Is this your first phase?  Also, are you going into all the sessions recovered and with decent energy?

I am only 5 sessions in, so am really asking out of curiosity.  Hopefully your progress picks back up.  Sasho mentions breaking through plateaus and then maintaining for a while before another break through.  Only time will tell.  Stick with the process.

End of phase 2, fully recovered, plenty of energy. Tomorrow will be first session of phase 3.

Speed and delivered efficiency are two separate things. I love the Stack, but it doesn’t have a face on it, and thus why a lot of golfers “love” the feel of there practice swings vs swings over a ball. Good luck and keep at it.

I have a blue SSR. Is the PRGR better? I only need it for swing speed. Have a GC2 already

Yes, I believe that PRGR is more accurate and consistent.  I've heard that SSR overstates swing speed by quite a bit and isn't as consistent.

Well I heard the Mevo might do swing speed without a ball, so I might just hold out for now and see what they offer. But thanks for the info. May just sell my SSR for now.
