Smoke Yellow -> Tensei CK Orange

I have a G30 with a Smoke Yellow that performs really well.  Really accurate and it’s a good combo.  Of course this being WRX the only issue is that it feels dead and I was thinking of trying out another counter balanced shaft and the CK Orange  (not the Pro) comes up quite often.  Ideally if it launched a little higher but with similar/less spin and better feel it would be a good switch for me.

 

Anyone make the switch from the SY to the CK Orange?  What did you notice in terms of ball flight and feel?

I have the Smoke Yellow right now on my Speedzone Extreme. I agree with you with the accuracy part. I had the Speedzone Extreme in 9 degree head before and the Aldila Rogue MSi shaft. As good as the shaft was on the 9 degree head, the spin was killing me because it had a open face at address and I have a cut swing and play a fade. I was losing a lot of distance when I don't time my swing perfectly. When I switched to the 10.5 head with the Smoke shaft, everything changed for me from the 1st swing! Everything was just amazing. 

 

I was able to try out the CK orange on a Taylormade M6. To be honest, both of them are really good in my own personal testing. I do really well with CB shafts. Not sure why but when you put a CB shaft on the driver I am using, I become something else. lol 

 

I cannot remember the exact numbers on the sim and the heads are different, so it's not a fair comparison but in terms of feel, I would go with the Smoke Yellow but not by much. I never had success with Hzrdus shafts as I hated how stiff they were. But the Yellow, I was just surprised by it and just love it. 

 

I know that I was spinning a bit more on the Yellow but that may have something to do with the SZE head as the M6 is known to be lower spinning that the SZE? AS for the flight, I remember them being just the same around 12 degrees of launch for me. 

 

To be fair with the CK Orange, when I was playing the M6 with the stock Atmos Orange shaft, I was like meh. But when the CK Orange was plugged it, it just came live and became a great fit for me. If I was choosing between the two, I would go with Yellow because of the better feel by a bit and the looks just suits my eye.
