I've hit one with that much curve but it was a hook that ended up OB, haha.  In all seriousness though, Bubba is the ultimate shot maker on tour.  Philly Mick is a close second.

Didn’t he once say that if he hits the ball straight it’s because it was by accident .. or something in those lines.

 

What amazes me watching Bubba is his confidence in knowing how much curvature he needs to land on those narrow fairways.

So if he hit a 3 wood straight then perhaps he’d end up in the same area. My question is with all the curvature wouldn’t that decrease his length. He had a fast ball speed but wouldn’t all that get mitigated with the curve so what’s the benefit?

When you're swinging 120+mph like he can, distance loss from side spin isn't significant unless you hit a snap hook.  Back when my ss was 122 mph on average, my accidental fades would still carry 315 yards.

Oh for sure, but even goofing off or trying to do it just for fun at the range, there's no way I'll come close haha.

Good point. I’d want to try one day what the pros were doing at genesis and hit a ball straight up in the air into the wind and see how far it can come back to me.

The most impressive thing to me is that, even if the fade is his 'go to,' he can draw it when needed.
