Following on from a conversation that started in the "No New Acquisitions" thread, I thought it might be interesting to start a thread on some of our best ferrules.

 

So what have you got!?

 

Most if my collection are UK made clubs which can't compete with MacGregor's finest (the ferrule masters IMHO), but here are some of the better examples.

The picture below is not to scale so don't measure lengths to compare one with another.

Count me in as an admirer of Ferrule Art.  Zero functionality other than adding a cool factor to the club. A lost "art" with contemporary clubs.  The added expense must be detrimental to profitability margins.  Not as organized as Jig's posting, as some are no longer in my possession.  Nevertheless, some I've admired when crossing paths with them.  Scrolling through the picture archives:

 

Mac MT M75.  '63 Mac CF M2 crowns. Colokrom reissues ferrules contrasts  with the Cu.

 

Wilsons.  '49 Top Notch have a marbleized effect (pic doesn't show all the well).  Buttonbacks.  '76 Staffs with long multi-piece ferrules.

 

Redlines.  Is there a ferruled putter made these days?  Long hosel, long ferrule Hagen Top Spin.  Mac Muirfield and Wilson Original 600.

Have wanted to ask this, but never found an appropriate thread.  GW and/or Golfsmith use to sell ferrule kits.  Bunch of different colored rings to roll your own ferrules. Now history. And searching around for ferrule rings of any flavor has not yielded results. Anyone know of a source for appropriately sized colored and clear rings?  They must be available somewhere as Boyd Blade & Ferrule are making unique (and pricy) ferrules.  Attempting to replicate classic ferrules is an impossible task.

I will confine myself to more UK entries to try and back up Jiggered and leave our American brothers to gloat with their Mac pictures.

To be fair, Jiggered has covered most of the bases but as this thread was partly kicked off by talk of crown ferrules on another thread, this John Letters Gary Player MkII Master Model at least shows MacGregor don't have the monopoly!

This Dunlop Arnold Palmer is also quite nice if very badly pictured!

Finally, another early sweet spot shifter, this time from Forgan!

Crikey, everyone's bringing their "A" game. One of the putters @Fellaheen51 posted must have a two inch ferrule, but that Forgan from @Foozle😍

 

But in terms of "like a boss", that John Letters Gary Player MKII master model one has to have one of the most ridiculously unnecessary ferrule patterns ever.

 

And I say that in a good way.

 

But that inverted crown, such as in Fellaheen's Macs, are still hard to beat.

@Foozle I didn't realise that the Player Mk II had such a great ferrule, I only have the Mk I and they're plain by comparison. Lovely Palmer and Forgan too!

I like the 62-1965 Wilson Staff Ferrules too.

 

Not sure the years on these 1959-1960?  Tommy Armour SS2 and Macgregor Tourney PT2.

Inspired me to hunt through my shed and pull some out for a photo;  from left to right:  Billy Bolger Personal Model 2i, Tom Stewart mashie niblick, Dunlop Maxfli Peter Thomson Mark 5 2i and Slazenger Bobby Locke Triple Master 2i.

This group from l-r:  Dunlop Maxfli 2i, Spalding Play-Well Deluxe 2 and 5 i (I believe from same set so interesting how their ferrules are slightly different) and an East Brothers Power Pact putter.

The turquoise one is really out there, but the one with the white band in the middle is also really eye-catching.

Love the Billy Bolger 2i and the Eastman Power Pact putter.  (Funny, Ben Sayers used the Power Pact name for some of their clubs in the UK, wonder if there was any link)

I hadn't thought of looking at my coated shaft clubs, must check to see if there's anything of interest.

 

And the "Kleer Site" name is brilliant, do you have a picture of the heads for those three putters?

 

The chequerboard banding on ferrules like your PGA is always a classy look.

This is great!  I too am a confirmed ferrule admirer.  These are not as cool as some but here's a few faves from my own goodies:

2nd group: East Brothers Jim Ferrier, another Chesterfield, Bud Russell Model 75.

PS I often notice Spalding spelled as Spaulding in posts on here. When I first wrote it as Spalding above it was auto corrected to Spaulding.

You have a fine collection of bladed putters, I particularly like the Jean Donald and the Pyratone shafted Chesterfield with the coloured ferrule, can't remember seeing one like that.

Thanks @Jiggered, doesn't show up that well in my photo but that ferrule on the Chesterfield is sort of like tortoise shell, looks good in the sunlight.

Kroydon Medallion, 59 Mac CF4000.
