Ping Glide 2.0 vs 3.0

Any big reasons to go for the 3.0 vs the 2.0 or is the 3.0 a small upgrade like g425 vs g410 etc? Looking at 54 and 58.

If your 2.0 grooves are worn out, a 3.0 shift would continue the general feel. Otherwise, play out the 2.0.

Hey, what about us guys using the original Glide?  The dang things are near impossible to wear out.

That nipper groove on the high lofted 3.0’s is surprisingly nice.

I had trouble adjusting to the extra groove on the 3.0 models of the ES grind.  Prefer the 2.0 model for 75% to full shots.

I have played both. The main difference is weight/feel. The 3.0 was designed from the ground up to be lighter, to blend better for players that aren’t using 120-130 gram shafts in their irons. I’m sure you can custom order them heavier but the off the shelf models use an 111 gram shaft and lighter grips to keep the swing weight up. Both are played by Ping’s tour players.

I have the Steath 2.0 mod in 58 and 54.  I would buy a new set of wedges if Ping did the stealth finish again.  I just really like black wedges and the Pings are forgiving for a wedge imo.

Nessism is right. Even though I have gotten the 3.0s, I have still used the OG glides this winter. Very impressed with how they have held up over the two years I have had them. I also agree that I might like the ES grind more on OG glide than I do on the 3.0.

I wanted to go through with a couple practice session short game wise before I make my ultimate decision on the 3.0 ES. Snow on the ground right now preventing that. Getting dark at 6 also doesn't help.

Based off what these forums talk about, the unicorn might be the 2.0s, stealth's. Same ES grind we are referring to. Have somewhat of a cult following.

I took a flyer on a stealth 2.0 gap wedge based on the TXG wet wedge test. I love it. Will be sad when it gets smooth and doesn't spin, but I clean my wedges with a small brush and towel after every swing so it should last a while. Feels surprisingly soft and the spin is just crazy.

If there's a better wedge than the original 58ES glide I've yet to hit it. At least for the bunkers we have around here.

When I got my 3.0’s I definitely had issues with this.  Once I switched the shaft out I found them to be really good wedges though.  The heads feel normal on a wedge shaft, like I’m familiar with.   
Op- I like the 3.0’s better than the 2.0’s and a little better than the stealth 2.0’s.  Personally I would get the stealth if I wasn’t going to go with the 3.0’s.  All are really solid wedges.  I struggled with the idea of using a wedge that wasn’t a classic blade/Vokey style head.  I was worried I would have a hard time opening the face and that sort of thing.  It has proved not to be an issue though.  I’d say the glides are not quite as nice as the vokey’s, that have a grind with heel relief, when you have to lay the face all the way open, but overall they are easy to manipulate...I like the 3.0’s look over the ball enough better than the 2.0’s that I think it is probably worth it, but you can’t really go wrong.  When you consider the fact that the shaft in the 3.0’s might not be to your liking, it might make sense to go 2.0.  I’d just save your existing wedges and move the shaft into the 3.0’s if you don’t like the lighter offerings.

Agree 1000%. The 2.0 Stealth is by far the best wedge I've ever played. I too play the 54* and 58* and they are so easy to either hit square or open up if needed. And the black murdered out finish is just the cherry on top!!!!!

Have you noticed the stealth being softer due to the 8620 vs the standard Glide 2.0 or 3.0?

I've never played the other Glide wedges so I can't compare.
