In my neck of the woods, signs of impairment need to be present to get a blood draw for drugs/alcohol. A blood draw just to search for them is a fishing expedition and would be/should be tossed in criminal proceedings.

as I listen to Brandel tell us about how “ utterly demolished “ that car is.   
 

He’s clueless.  I’ve seen worse than that on copart  for auction fixed and resold in 2-3 weeks time.    😂.  Sorry. Nobody pulling for tiger to get better , harder than me .  But gracious.  Folks haven’t ever seen a really bad wreck.  This was bad enough.  But in a truly horrific wreck you can’t tell what the car used to be whne it stops. This was probably 50 mph or less.

Yes indeed.  That's in everybody's neck of the woods if they live in the United States.  "No signs up impairment" is a much bigger deal than some believe.  

 

Edit for clarity.  A blood draw is going to happen at the hospital no matter what.  They perform tests for their needs.  Those test results can be obtained by police with a warrant.  Of course, there needs to be signs of impairment to get the warrant for DUI in this case.  Otherwise, a judge will never sign off.

The no signs of impairment statement means nothing. As is always the case in reporting, early information is often inaccurate information. In our must have it now news world, bad info goes out all too often. Most states require toxicology when one is involved in a personal injury accident and impairment is suspected. Could be that the fix is in already? Who knows.  Easier for those conducting the investigation to choose not to pursue that avenue since no other motorists were involved/injured. He knows whether or not he was on pain meds. If he was, I hope it serves as a wake up call.

Sign of excessive speed? Perhaps. It does not automatically mean there is impairment People do a great job at crashing perfectly fine automobiles every single day of the week, with zero impairment.

I see from the map of Lomita a nearby donut shop on Hiway 1.  At 7am, that was probably his destination.

True.  Having been around those abusing pain meds my whole life , I can say.  It truly depends on who you are , what sex you are and what state it is.   In SC if you’re a middle aged lady with a good reputation, and you have a script , and no body important died.   You good.    Me ?  Might get put under the jail.  
 

I can tell you a story that you won’t believe about what one single female continually got away with , and it involved a small kid.  The question of “ does she have a prescription for that “ was asked and answered in court so many times I couldn’t believe it over a year and a half.  If the answer was yes. That was it.  Drug test good.   
 

so yes.  It’s such a grey area who knows.

Is a crash enough to show potential impairment?  No.  Blood shot eyes.  Slurred speech.  Empty bottles of alcohol or drugs in the car.  A syringe sticking out of his arm.  Those are signs of impairment and potential DUI.

I own a wrecker service in North Carolina.  I was thinking the same thing when people utter the hyperbole about wrecked cars.  That Hyundai Genesis will be on a buy here/pay here lot in a month getting 29% APR.

Well, blade, now we seen it all with TW. First, the guy is a total menace behind the wheel. He hits fire hydrants, sleeps in the middle of the freeway, does automotive gymnastics off the cliff now.

 

God help him he survives this and can walk again. 
 

But nobody can ever let him sit behind the wheel again. He should count his blessings he hasn’t killed or maimed anyone. 

 

No SUVs, golf carts, bumper cars. Not even video games!

I hope Tiger comes through this quickly. That car was REALLY damaged. Lots of kinetic energy dissipated there...Scary crash.

Authorities in California have stated as of a 6:25 article on Marketwatch that there was no indication of impairment on Tiger's part... so much for all those who like to jump to conclusions!

The problem isn’t condemning someone for a DUI, the problem is condemning him before there was any evidence whatsoever!

 

A lot of people playing judge, jury, and executioner without any proof whatsoever.

 

Lots of reasons Tiger could’ve gotten into this accident, and already a ton of additional info has come out in the Press Conference.

 

Prayers for Tiger for a full recovery. 🙏

The damage is the whole point, otherwise that energy goes into the passenger cabin. Modern crash standards are pretty amazing.
