If I'm ever on trial for a serious crime, I'm going to petition to have the jury selected from a pool of GolfWrx members.

Not guilty!

So you think the circumstantial evidence presented here is a guilty or not guilty?

i wish him a full recovery of course

its hard for us to accept our sports heroes arent necessarily good people. He is incredibly lucky not to have seriously hurt or killed someone else in all these wrecks by now.

however, when a guy who clearly needs a chauffeur, and can obviously afford one, but wont have one, there is only one likely explanation. Which is, he wasnt where he was supposed to be that night

Wow. You must have all kinds of insider info. 🤪

i rephrased it slightly..

Prince Philip (now in hospital, unrelated) caused a wreck a couple of years ago and hurt someone. Silly ar$e is 97!. Turns out he was playing away. Or so I was told.

this happened in Los Angeles.  Tiger is from Southern California.  This story is going to change a whole bunch until they all get together and decide what story they want to admit to.

After seeing another excerpt of that interview with Nance on Sunday...I've looked worse than that and acted less sharp after a run of the mill hangover.  I don't think one can assume he was on something.  Easily could have just been tired, not even hungover.  I'm sure we've all been there.

Also just saw a clip of him and Dwayne Wade on the course from yesterday and Tiger was completely clear eyed and sharp.

Of course neither of these are proof he wasn't on something at 7 am this morning, but by the same token there's nothing to say he was either.

You might have notice I posted he “should be off meds now”. In a reply to a post citing his “recent” surgery as some kind of proof he was taking something?
Was he this time? Wasn’t he? Somehow so many just NEED to know NOW as if it is the god given right to know everything about public figures.

Why can’t anyone just wait to see what comes out? All of this speculation is pointless. Well, except to those that get their jollies tearing down public figures..

Chill Man. I'm rooting for Tiger to recover quickly. He's my favorite player ever. There's something called pain management. I doubt he's pain free with all the surgeries he went through. Whether he's taking strong narcotics, Aspirin, or nothing at all, he said himself that's the price he pays for being who he is. People think they're entitled to know everything.

If you listened to one of the officials after the press started peppering them with questions about why they sent him to UCLA-Harbor instead of the closest hospital - questions that began to sound like they were trying to create a story for themselves - they were very clear on that point. He was breathing on his own, was awake and lucid, and their examination did not indicate anything life-threatening that would mean he needed immediate emergency care to save his life. But he was in a situation that injured him in such a way that he needed the services of a trauma center with things like advanced orthopedics among other specialties. That doesn't mean his injuries aren't serious. In fact for an athlete they could be career-ending, but not life-ending. I thought the fellow who answered that (I think he was the officer who was first on the scene, who was terrific during the news conference) did a fine job of explaining the rationale they use.

Or Steiny called and when he found out that Tiger's legs were mangled, he said send Tiger to UCLA.  They're good at repairing mangled legs.

I wish him a full recovery. Terrible to see something like this. He deserves better,

But I'm sure the Golf Channel will have him odds on favorite to win the Masters.

Hadn't thought of that angle, but it is just as relevant at this point as all of the other scenarios postulated.

Drugs, animal in the road, texting, unfamiliar with a rental car... the list goes on.

I don't know and I actually don't care, to be quite honest.  He's a golfer and not anyone I know personally - so much like Kobe Bryant's death in a helicopter crash, I think it sucks that a human being died (or was injured in this case), but I have no personal connection to either incident and therefore have not been affected personally in any way whatsoever.

My only position in this whole discussion is that it's not an unreasonable assumption that there's a strong possibility he was under the influence of pain meds - given his history, and as recently as this past weekend.  I simply don't think speculation is as out of line (in this case) as some others think.

Quantify “strong” ; )

If you look at his interview from Sunday with Jim Nance, his eyes looked likes he was high on pain killers. No proof. Just saying....

Speculation is always “out of line,”simply because it’s useless babble by people with nothing better to say

I’d like to change my vote from impaired to distracted.

Texting to let someone know he was running late and that curve came up quickly seems more likely at this point.

Good press conference, especially appreciated the Spanish language Q&A. LA County sheriff + FF are true professionals. Now the facts are getting more clear. The accident had NOTHING to do with impairment / intoxication, they aren't even investigating that. It's off the table. Honestly anyone mentioning that is trolling at this point and should be ignored.

It seems likely that TW was speeding on a stretch of road that doesn't have much room for error. All it takes is one mistake and you're in a bad accident. I hope we can all learn from today and DRIVE THE SPEED LIMIT. Even if you think it's safe to speed, all it takes is one mistake. Drive safe and stay at the speed limit.

Another thing mentioned in the press conference was that injuries were serious but not the worst category that would have caused routing to the closest possible hospital. So that's one piece of good news. It sounds like the seriousness may have been overblown by the news media (not the first time they have done so) and hopefully there is no lasting damage. I'm really pulling for TW to make a full recovery.

As for golf, let's hope TW takes some extra time off and comes back close to 100%. He deserves some family time out of the spotlight these next few months. TW, heal up and we'll see you next January in Torrey!

Not surprising that every news outlet kept using the phrase JAWS OF LIFE like it always means that someone is on the brink of death.  People out of their league discussing stuff they know nothing about. It’s all in the interest of gaining clicks and network numbers  Nothing about explaining the facts and informing people any more.

Spent two deployments in Afghan in 09/10/11 when IDF was a common occurrence. Nothing better than having to try and beat the media’s information back home to loved ones because every rocket/mortar attack gets sensationalized as a MASCAS event even when they had it dead wrong. If you aren’t first you’re last when it comes to getting the articles out there, and the worst you can make it sound...the better.  Par for the course and doesn’t seem to be changing any time soon because people keep feeding that machine.
