Well, if the tox report comes back with anything pain meds related, that's all they need. I posted earlier that Norco doesn't impair me, at least to my perception, with the dosage I've taken. I'm hoping, if he's even taking those meds, it won't get blown slap a** out of proportion.

The only problem is even if he is taking them as prescribed, and had not taken any yesterday morning before the crash, they would still show up in his system on a tox screen. So, he could have been stone cold sober, and still have them in his system. Same with any drug test really, just because a substance shows up, does not mean you are currently impaired by said substance. All we can do is wait and see. I will take the sheriff at their word though. They are trained to observe behaviors, specifically looking for impairment, and if they say there were no signs of impairment, who are keyboard warriors to say otherwise?

I would hate for him to never be able to play again, as I do enjoy watching him when he has his A game (and B game for that matter), but more importantly than him ever setting foot on a golf course again, I hope he can have a normal life with his family and be active with his kids. He seems to have gotten himself into a good place in life finally (as far as he lets the public see anyway). Hopefully this does not set him back a few years and lead him down a dark road.

Just saying what?

everyone talking drug use has been proven wrong already......i just wish people would hit the pause button on some of this stuff

Not proven. Maybe he wasn’t on them, but we can’t be sure without a tox screen.

It will be painful but he more than likely will be walking again in 3 months and be playing golf later in the year assuming there isn’t something else going on we don’t know about

Love the optimism and I hope it’s the case. I keep thinking how legendary it would be for him to recover from this injury in time for the US Open at Torrey and wince through another win there. But that is blasphemous to think about at this point; I just hope he recovers fully and lives an unhindered life.

I'm not so concerned with why the accident happened but the aftermath of it.

Personally I don't see Tiger coming back and in a weird way wish he doesn't.

While I consider myself to have witnessed his career I find it hard not to think about his future after having 5 back surgeries and now this accident. As much as I want Tiger to play golf again I want him to have a good happy life more. I now want him to give up competitive golf, and spend his time playing with friends and family and enjoying seeing his children grow up.

He's done enough for golf and the world, now he should focus on himself.

Sadly he might be one of those people that just can't let go and will push his body to try and come back from this also.

I think an injury of this severity might make it easier for Tiger to step away, if that's what ends up happening. He has always wanted to be seen as an athlete like basketball, football, baseball players; he's frequently referred to himself as an athlete or aging athlete more recently rather than a golfer. He focused on fitness in a way that most golfers (other than Gary Player) didn't before him. It's more "noble" for an athlete's career to end due to injury than the inevitable (Tom Brady notwithstanding) diminishing of skill due to age. Kind of going out on your shield. Those of us who are old enough to remember the last couple of years of Willie Mays' career staggering around in the outfield for the Mets wish we hadn't seen that.

This may have been posted. Has anyone here heard any postulation that he may have had a medical event while driving? It certainly seems plausible.

Per the reports, I never would thought that.  And, more importantly, I know I never would have said that.

I am all for it, although it is unclear if it was the root cause of the accident. People should just drive manual transmissions so they can’t have their phone in one hand and drive.

It’s wild the lengths some people are going to in order to avoid the obvious likely causes - 99.8% chance he was driving too fast, not paying attention and possibly impaired but anyone suggesting any of these is vilified. Instead we are seeing people say it could have been an animal, another (invisible) vehicle, mechanical failure of a brand new car, medical episode or any other scenario that has an extremely low probability being hailed as what could have happened because hey ya never know and it’s Tiger Woods who has a squeaky clean track record when it comes to driving and telling the truth after he smashed up a car and himself.

But I think you're not considering how much he has grown the game, which is actually one step above "potential impairment" on the post crash analysis checklist.

Hey @FakeClubPro, what's the deal with all the confused responses today?  You've been using that a lot in response to some clear and objective posts.

I’m not going to go through and read all the posts again, but I don’t think anyone said Tiger wasn’t driving too fast or could have been distracted?

No one is saying Tiger isn’t responsible for the crash...I think what some people have an issue with was the rush to judgment a lot of people had to saying it was a DUI without any proof of that being the case.

im not caught up in the dui thing and havent speculated.

crossing the median in a tank over the speed limit are the facts as we know them. Honestly, people speculating on a likely date for his comeback need a bit of perspective

I have had to take prescribed pain meds in the past due to medical issues. When I was taking them even though I probably could have driven safely I had my wife drive me to and from work just in case something happened. If (STRESSING IF) TW was still taking prescribed meds even according to the directions he should have never been behind the wheel. Geesh, he is worth more than 100 million easily. He can afford a driver. The tournament should have supplied one and demand he use it or not let him appear.

People like TW have huge egos, it is part of being a Type A personality and an "alpha male".  They will say they can do it themselves and believe that they can. That is when people around him should have stepped in and not let it happen. It is not their fault, but they possibly could have prevented it.

All this being said, hope he gets well and can live a normal life, even without golf.

The police report said they were traveling at a high rate of speed. “They”??

Sheriff Alex Villanueva said that seeing how far the SUV traveled off the road, “I would say they were going at a relatively greater speed than normal.”

Did Wood’s professional liar agent and fixer Mark Steinberg step in. “They” implies another passenger.
