There s quite a bit difference in the sound between the two.  It’s like the entire blade of the Closer is hollow or something.

I like the look of the Closer a lot but the sound was a deal killer for me

How about the ball coming off the face? Does one feel hotter than the other?

Rolled the Blackbird again a few minutes ago. I rolled it against the BR Bat Attack and the Blackbird felt more solid or dense. Might be all that tungsten. That WILL be my next putter. Love the alignment and the small size heal to toe. Gotta say I do not like the chrome shaft they have in them now. Black is much better in my opinion.

Idk man. You ended up not liking the 1&d and the blackbird is going to be very close to the same putter. The CoG is going to be way back just like the 1&d whereas the CoG is more centered with the gunboat.

You may have a point. Putting just so good right now with the GB. Not changing or liking anytime soon.

How's the closer? Saw you posted an operator in bst, did you sell old faithful or sell it after getting a plumber's neck operator?

Closer was good, but couldn’t unseat the Operator. Sold the slant neck after finding a plumber neck haha! Have 3 plumber necks now 😂

If you still have the closer and want to tinker...

I put a wristlock on mine. I extended it an inch. The wristlock really is just to counterbalance it. I put a 25g countercore weight in the grip. Had to go 365g in headweight. I have a 10g in heel and 5g in toe. With the wristlock I found I was leaving the face open and with the counter weight I found 350g was too light.

With that setup it is better than a normal.setup. I'm going to keep mine for slow greens. But the operator is my dog when greens are good/quick.

I have the PXG Sink Fit Pistol on my Spitfire and I like it a lot

I was using a SS 2.0 pistol grip on all of my old putters and this is the closest match PXG offers

It is heavier but it helps balance the putter IMO

I have seen in earlier post, people who have replaced the grips on the PXG putters

They will be able to offer more insight

Sink fit skinny works great for me...Not as big and cumbersome as most of those others available, plus gives me feel which those larger ones don't...

The sinkfit pxg uses is about 130g. It's heavy. I always replace it with a ss pistol gt 1.0. I tend to pull putts and get handsy with a heavy grip.

Don't underestimate the value in changing weights. I'm a huge believer in weight being a critical factor in putter performance. Going "weightless" is an option too.

What neck/hosel did you get?

Curiosity and a good deal got the better of me. Found a mini gunboat for $200 so I bought it.

My testing between the closer and operator has shown that the closer setup I have (slightly longer length, counterbalanced) is very close in performance to the operator inside 10 feet. But outside 10 feet the closer is better because I can get the ball.to the hole easier with it. Orlando summer greens, a lot of course's greens are slooooowwww.

Even tho testing shows the closer is really, really close to the operator inside 10 feet, that feeling of "I won't miss" with the operator is not there. I think it's that the makes with the operator are well inside the hole whereas with the closer I get a few more that go in on either side of center.

So, looking at the mini gunboat, it's bigger than the closer but smaller than the operator. Maybe it's goldilocks. If it putts a touch more like the operator inside 10 feet and putts like the closer outside 10 feet then it might be special.

Time to test in a few days. Can always sell the mini g if it's a dud and probably make money on it.

Plumbers neck.  I didn’t order the weight kit, maybe I should…

Got fit this morning for a Bat Attack set up for armlock.  Started the fitting with a Closer, which was my head shape I preferred but the fitter quickly determined I needed the MOI of a larger head.

Bat Attack was the second head we tried and we dialed in length and turned the grip so the flat part was on my forearm.  I hit this one well, but the fitter saw something in the stroke that made him try the Gunboat head, followed by a Blackjack.  I didn't like the thick line on the Gunboat so that was quickly ruled out, but the Blackjack was set up with a couple extra degrees of loft and it really helped me feel comfortable with the setup and the stroke was noticeably better.

We then circled back to the Bat Attack with the extra loft setup that we used on the Blackjack and it was clear right away that it was the winner.  The fitter dialed in the weights along the way to help keep me from sucking the club back inside and I started rolling everything pure on my intended target line.

It's going to be a long two week wait for the putter to come in but I'm very excited to give armlock a chance with a putter fit to me, as it had always felt uncomfortable picking ones up off the shelf at the big box stores.  A huge reason for that is the length we ended up at, 44" which is 4" more than anything I've tried at a store recently, and paired with the Superstroke grip I felt very comfortable all throughout the stroke.

Does PXG have different weight kits or can you suggest the weight that go into the weight kit?

I only see one weight kit on the website

The weight kit that came with my putter has 5-10-15-20g weights

I use the 10 and 5g weights only, and sometime go weightless if the greens are fast enough

I was wondering if they had another kit with lighter weights

I would like a 2/5/8/10g weight kit

No. They have 1 kit. But you can buy paired weights. You can by 2x2.5g, 2x5g, 2x10g, etc.

Appreciate the info

I agree when you talk about the weight of the putter

I would like to try 2.5g and 7.5g weights to see what that produces

I have 10g in there now and that is the heaviest I want to go

My home course has slow greens so whenever I travel I always lighten the weight

Its an easy change and can really affect your putting IMO

I wish you could have customized the weight kit

If you buy enough pxg putters then you'll end up with a weight kit...lol. I may have a problem.

I ended up with 2.5g weights after pxg dropped the price on the br closer a week after I bought it. They sent me 2.5g weights as a concession at my request. I had 20g weights but sold them when i sold the blackjack. Doubt I'll ever need them again. Don't like super heavy

@getitdaily grabbed a BR closer with LAGP in it, and initial thoughts are right in line with what you described when battling against the Operator. If I can dial in the consistency inside 10 feet with it, it’s gonna be a weapon. I think the one I had before was just too long. This one feels more balanced to me. We shall see.

It's a really good putter. Like I mentioned before, slightly long (less than 2 inches) and counterbalanced seems to have given that stability.

On long putts I get very right hand dominant. With the operator that leads to me driving the ball into the ground and putts over 30 feet struggle mightily to get inside 3 feet even.

Went with the 2.5 and 7.5 weights

Should be here next week

Greens on my home course are so unpredictable

It has been drying out and the greens are speeding up

Will let you know how they work out

The 10g weights in my BR Mustang make it pretty heavy. It was counter balanced by the large heavy stock PXG grip which I had removed. When I put on a normal pistol grip it made the head too heavy.

I have now ordered two 7.5 weights as the 5G weights I had on hand were a tad light.

I already had the Driver/Fairway weight kit but it only had one 7.5 weight in it ugh
