Looking at their site, all the photos show a chrome shaft. Pretty sure the matte black is still a no-go.

I don't know why it wasn't available (though it looks like it is now) one season into using my Gunboat with a black shaft, I can say without a doubt I would not get the black shaft again.  Putter is excellent, shaft finish is comically cheap. Chipping absolutely everywhere.

The shaft in my Armlock BR Bat Attack is just slightly less stiff than a few of my alignment rods.  I am not sure it is metal.  It is coming out when I get the putter back from PXG.  Stability Shaft will be in pronto.

Yup! Mine felt like a ladies flex shaft, could see the shaft load on tap in putts.

Reshafted my BR Bat Attack with the Stability Tour and now it is as solid as a Sherman Tank.  Love it.

My black One And Done shaft is chipping like crazy.  Anyone know what size tip PXG uses so I can buy a replacement?

Had to replace the black Tour Temper shaft in mine after only 5 rounds as the chipping was horrendous. PXG offered to replace the shaft with a chrome shaft but I put a KBS black shaft in and have had zero chipping issues. Also have had a weight in the bottom strip out and cannot remove. I like the putter but have never had these issues with any other putter manufacturer.

I stopped by PXG Scottsdale today because I’ve been wanting to try the Bat Attack.

Hit some putts and bought it right there to go against my battle ready Brandon. I went with 2.5g weights.

First impression is it has everything I like about the Brandon while being more stable and easier to align.

Update: I returned the Bat Attack. I didn’t putt any better or worse with it, but prefer the feel of the Brandon.

Once I knew I was sticking with the Brandon, I installed a KBS one step shaft. For $75 it really makes a difference in feel, plus it just looks awesome. I don’t see this setup leaving my bag anytime soon.

I've had 5 pxg putters over the last year and have tried a hundred weight configs so I've removed and put in weights about 500 times this past year. Never stripped a weight.

I can see how carelessness can lead to a stripped weight in the driver, fairway, or hybrid since those weights sit into a slightly curved structure. I had to be a bit careful when toying with non-putter weights.

But the putter weights seat themselves...

Actually its the star head that stripped on the 2.5 weight which is made from aluminum and I am careful when tightening.

Gotcha. Did you torque tighten them? I never tightened them past a snug fit.

torque tightened with PXG wrench. No rproblems with 5 gram or heavier weights as they are not aluminum, just the light 2.5 seem to be a problem, next time just snug.

Never heard of this issue with 2.5g weights. But here's a video I got ideas from in the past for stripped screws which actually worked.

They make really good putters, just not better than a scotty and certainly worse than a bettinardi (but hey so is everything).  If you can get it on sale and want a new putter its a great option.

I bought a whole bag this summer, and when i showed the guy my 10 year old 2.6 newport, he said lets skip the putter.  lol.

My buddy has the battleship and loves it.  Really soft, great quality, excellent putter.

Putting is all about confidence.  So if you like what you see when you look down, thats the putter for you.  I will say going from a cast putter to a milled one will force you to be a better putter.  Even small mishits provide instant feedback, forcing you to adjust.  I didn't realize how often i mishit putts until i went from a 2 ball to a scotty.

You can't go wrong with PXG.  Everything they make is high quality, forgiving and has great feel.

I just picked up a Hellcat from PXG Express in Excellent condition for $100 all in. Price is too good to pass up and I am amazed how nice it is. The face feels even softer than BR Bat Attack.

Strangely it was listed at 36.5" but really just a standard 35". I wonder if that's why it got returned or somehow ended up at PXG EBay store. The oversized grip basically means I don't even have to chop it down, can just simply choke down a little. I feel the Bat Attack is in danger of being knocked out...

Finally got my hands on a Lucky D Gen 2 with black shaft. Really enjoy how it sets up and fits my stroke. They do feel a bit firmer off the face compared to other milled putters, but with the softer “tour balls” it isn’t awful. I actually think I like the more “solid feel” and the weight of the putter vs my Scotty.

If neither of those two options works well, putt the Hercules.

@getitdaily Would you recommend this over the Closer, Mustang or the Bat Attack?  Also intrigued by the look of the Spitfire; did you ever try that? I tend to prefer a blade over a mallet, but was using a Bettinardi Queen B #10 at the end of the season and liked it.

Man, they're all so different. I putted them all with the plumber's neck so my perspective is with that hosel...

In order of stability (head doesn't wobble all.over the place) :

Least stable to most

1. Mustang

2. Closer

3. Spitfire

4. Hercules

5. Bat Attack

The closer is a basic wide blade. But the tungsten in the battle ready model does help with stability. It's the most stable wide blade I've ever put my hands on.

The Spitfire putted like a face balanced blade. It just didn't want to rotate much. I didn't really care for it. It wasn't that much more stable than the closer.

The bat Attack is really stable but the center of gravity is mid to back. It had very little toe hang with the plumber's neck. I did try this one with a slant neck and it was better, but I just can't putt slant necks. Bat Attack is very good tho.

The Hercules was in my sweet spot. Think of your qb10 but with more stability. It has the desired toe hang I need. It is very stable, not as stable as the Bat Attack, but not far off either. The CoG is mid to forward but in a smaller head so it's basically forward.

@getitdaily Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it. After reading your post it sounds like my two best options are the Closer or the Hercules. I'm very intrigued by the Hercules, but I don't get along with huge mallets. Do you recall how big the profile of the Hercules is compared to the Closer?

Here you go. Compared to a TM delmonte1 wide blade . The TM is basically the exact same size as the closer.

Really tempted to pick up a Raptor. Love the simplicity of the head shape and alignment.

Very good putter. Looks good at address too. CoG is back. Has very little toe hang with a plumber's neck. Face really wants to close on the through stroke. It's basically face balanced with a plumber's neck.

I wanted it to have more toe hang because I really like that shape and topside alignment.
