@endy

Toyed around more with the closer after putting the ss grip on. The sinkfit is like 130g. Too heavy for me. SS is around 75 or 80g, I forget. I usually drop the putter head to 350 or 355g. 350g in this case. Putting on my birdie ball matt. Felt like the putter was a bit too light in the handle and missed a few left. Popped my 25g counterweight in and upped the headweight to 360g, proceeded to drain 33 in a row from 7.5 feet. Grabbed the operator and made 35 in a row and stopped.

I've done head to heads at the same distance between the operator and mustang and the operator was always just enough better. Usually would putt 10 in a row with each and operator was always 9/10 or 10/10 and mustang never got better than 8/10.

Now, it's a birdie ball.matt so the roll is REALLY true. But that means my alignment and start line have to be spot on.

My advice, if you like the operator but like to have a blade-ish putter around...get the closer while it's reduced. You may have to toy with weight settings tho.

@OspreyCI gonna leave the sightline on this one....don't have a stroke on me.

Battle Ready Spitfire

Only rolled it a few times indoors

Kind of a "ting”when hit good and a "low pitch ting”when you miss the sweet spot

If that makes sense

Will roll it in few on the practice green

Also have the weight kit to play with but it feels good as is

PS

I had a putter with a chrome shaft so I am use to the Chrome shaft

It does not offend me like others would be offended

Juat got back from the practice green

some initial thoughts:

Definitely a “ting” when hit good

Does not feel hollow but it does sound hollow. Especially when you lighten the weights.
Sounds like a Direct Force LAB putter (my friend I play with has one)

Ball rolls beautifully. It really goes without effort.
Kept the 10gram weights in

The 15gram weights are too heavy and the 5gram are fine but it feels better with the 10gram weights for my stroke.

Easily the most stable putter I have ever putted with. Ball rolls exactly where you aim it. Very little twisting

Ball rolls the distance whether stuck in the sweet spot or not.  You will hear the difference. The feel is good but it is the sound that gives the most feedback. When you strike it for a long putt, everyone on the green will hear it.
Sounds like an old PING brass putter my Dad use to play with.
Putter is great, it rolls beautifully and is extremely stable. I am just not use to the sound.
Look forward to playing 18 with it tomorrow

Anyone know for sure if the Battle Ready Closer putter has a thud sound and not the hollow sound reported by scott406 on his spitfire?

I did call PXG and they told me shafts would be chrome for the foreseeable future on their putters.

Was looking to purchase the BR Closer but would like someone to confirm the sound is not hollow or tiny.

Sweet looking. I was fit for the putter before. It is very stable with the wings. Enjoy and hope it is money for you.

My Gen2 Gunboat just showed up. So happy to be back in to it for the second time. @kuch is the man for the fast shipping. Happy to have her home again.

It's a thud sound. Sounds a bit less thud like if you take weights out. But very much a thud like click

Does the Closer have a chance to unseat the Operator?

Idk yet. It's very good. I had a 2day tournament this weekend and I almost put it in play for day 1. We were playing day 1 on greens that had been punched 2 weeks prior and top dressed. They hadn't grown in much since we've had no rain, it's been hot and really windy. I knew going in that the greens were going to be slow so I almost pulled the trigger. Went with the operator instead and had 3 3putts because I just couldn't get long putts to the hole. Closer is firmer off the face with all the mass closer to the face.

Day 2 was on greens that were really good. Had 29 putts. Missed 4 makeable putts. 2 misreads, 1 left 1 inch short but center cut, 1 bad stroke. Operator is just so stable.

Next round out will be a non-competitive round and I'm going to let the closer eat all day. See how it goes.

Just an FYI if anyone was wondering about model toe hang-I talked to PXG they said they plumber neck is 30 degrees,  heel shafted is 70 degrees. They said its the same across the board for all models

And that's simply not true. The bigger the head, front to back, the less toe hang. Blackjack, one and done, operator have nowhere near 30 degrees with plumber's neck...more like 10 degrees. The wide blades have about 30. The traditional blades are probably closer to 45. They use a single plumber's neck hosel. They don't have a shorter hosel for their higher moi heads.

Just telling you what they said

All of the putter will have the same amount for each hosel style.

I didn't mean for that reply to come off as an attack on you. Just simply outlining what's real vs what their reps say from product spec sheets.

I've owned the blackjack. I own an operator. I own a closer. I own a mustang. I've putted a one and done.  All with plumber's necks. Their putters are very, very good. But their spec sheets on toe hang aren't correct.

It's not that true a lot of guys have reported much less toe hang than they claim especially on mallets.

I will have to agree. Just sold my One & Done Plumber's Neck and it was about 10 degrees.
