Does the Closer have a chance to unseat the Operator?

Played a twilight round tonight. Decided to let the closer make a run. Left the operator at home.

The good - made 2 birdie putts from 20-25 feet. 2 putted a couple of pretty tough putts that were up hill and breaking pretty hard. Hit a lot of putts on the line I read. The ball gets to the hole pretty easy with the closer.

The bad - 3 putted twice after running the first putt by 7 feet or so. Again, getting the ball.to the hole is easy with this putter. Just not 100% acclimated to it yet. Missed 2 putts from.inside 6 feet and another couple of putts from about 10 feet.

I need to get the loft checked. Putter looks.like it has 4-5 degrees of loft and I feel like I have to have my hands a bit too far forward at address. Putter looks odd from inside 10 feet...pretty sure it's a loft issue.

More to come.

Did your PXG putter come in black shaft?

I was informed they only offer chrome putter shaft. This seems odd since they are advertising the battle ready putters as stealth.

I ordered mine on the 21st of May and it has a chrome shaft. Was told it would be when I ordered it.

See pics in pervious post to check it out

PXG said the black was not working out

Driver -Cobra RadSpeed 9*

5 Wood - PING G425 16*

Hybrid  PING G410 22*

Irons - PING G400 5-UW

Wedges - Cleveland Zipcore CBX 54* ; Cleveland CBX Zipcore Full Face 58*

Putter - PXG Battle Ready Closer-34"

Ball- Wilson Triad

The True Temper black coating easily chips off per many, unlike the KBS shaft they previously installed in their Gen2 putters. PXG acknowledges this issue and has started installing chrome TT shafts in their putters. Not sure when or if they'll go back to the KBS once supply chain issues resolve themselves, if it ever does.

Just got an email for the "final" BR putters, Blackbird & Gunboat, and they are shown with the chrome shafts.

First round with the battle ready brandon. Love it so far. Had some 3 putts while getting the distance control dialed but also made a couple nice birdie putts.

Ordered from PXG Express on ebay and they I asked for the 20 grams weights which they threw in for free which was nice. It feels, firm, solid, and muted and the neck style fits my stroke perfectly. Super happy with it so far!

Loft check was fine. Had about 3.5. Had it set to just under 3. But 3 to 3.5 isn't a big change. If I had to guess, today, closer won't unseat the super steady operator. Stroke with the closer is fine. The putter is good. But I seem to line it up worse than the operator. Pretty sure I line it up right and then overcorrect and pull putts. My short misses have been left with it.

Will give it a bit more go, but I'm skeptical.

I got my battle ready bat attack today. I did the full bag fitting and I rolled them all but went with the bat attack with plumbers neck. I’m currently playing a handmade custom xenon blade and have been on fire with it, so I wasn’t really expecting it to be unseated. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews about the aluminum body and the sound being tingy. It isn’t at all. It’s actually very muted to me. Almost thuddy. The speed control was impeccable. I believe the pyramid face works. It’s still a work in progress but so far I like it. I’ll play at least 4 rounds this weekend and get a better feel for it.

Got some more practice green time with the closer. Took just it to focus on it. Think I may have tinkered my way into a competitor for the operator.

In.previous testing I've been using the same stroke for both...you cant. They're different putters.

With the operator I'm very comfortable with a very sbst feeling stroke....feeling, not real.

That stroke doesn't work with the closer. But what does is a very, very familiar stroke for me...just keep the putter head as low as possible. Let the hosel do its work but keep the head low. I was draining everything 10' and shorter.

Let's see what it does during a round when a 5 footer counts.

Definitely like the pace off the face of the closer. Greens are getting SLOW here as it heats up.

That’s awesome, rolling a battle ready bat attack currently and really liking it. Need to get my hands on a plumber neck operator and closer

How's the bat attack? I had a tyne h for a bit. Always liked the fang style putters. Just don't imagine it'll be drastically different than either one of these I currently have.

I live in AZ and spent some time at PXG this afternoon. I loved all the putters. Seriously, I couldn't find a bad one in the bunch. My favorite models were polar opposites in the Brandon and One and Done.

I was surprised how heavy the putters feel. I didn't think an extra 10-15 grams would make much difference, but wow, it was a new feeling. If you can't get to PXG I recommend adding some weight to your gamer to get a general feeling of the extra weight. Quarters are about 5 grams, tape 2-3 to your putter and give it a go.

I'm going back next week for a full Quintic fitting, and will report back with the results.

It’s nice, but as you’ve said, it’s not much different. I think my favorite so far has been the operator but I need to find one with a plumbers neck. Really hoping to see a battle ready come out

I don't think br operator is coming. Read that what's released is all that's coming for the br line.

Gen2 operator is just $225 now.

Rolled a few putters today at the Mesa store. I was there picking up my new 0211 22* hybrid. You guys are correct about the Mustang being a loud ting. That’s for sure. The BR BA is just money. Feels so solid and so easy to align with the slant neck.

No BR Gunboat or Blackbird yet. Fitter said they are still waiting in them to show up. Fitter said he uses the BR BA. Good times.

Unfortunately only LH models left

Ran the closer for another full round today. 32 putts on 14 gir. 1 bad swing led to a double. Shot -1. Take away that bad swing and I'm -3 at the worst. Very, very easily could have been hugely better.

Burned the edge on 1 from 20+

Burned the edge on 3 from 15 ft

Burned the edge on 4 for eagle from 12 feet

Putt from 25+ on 5 broke out of the hole as it died. Just needed 6 inches more speed.

Putt on 6 from about 20 feet didn't go and I don't know how. Such a good putt that just didn't fall.

Made 7 footer for birdie on 10

Made 5 footer for par on 11

Made 20' for birdie on 15

Made 4 footer for par on 18

I think I'll give the closer a go next weekend in a tournament round...see how it performs under pressure. It was really solid today on really slow greens.
