My current driver has x100 in it so at least the shaft is staying......which head it on it...........who knows

Lol it's all good I have OCD so if it works for you, hit em straight! I've been thinking about doing this too, I had a 983k with a x100 it wasn't far but I didn't miss many fairways

I have two steel shafted 983k, great combos.

 

I have yet to find a "bigger" head that I like with steel though. Thus the modem benefits of the TM OO Mini have been great, but giving me the smaller head I like.

What length do you have the X100 in? Cool to see an ‘old school’ type set up.

 

I last toyed with the idea of a steel shafted driver around the time of the 975J. Never committed to it.

I haven't done so with driver but have been playing a steel fairway since forever, just never got the benefit of graphite in a fairway.

Gosh I hate to be the wet blanket here, but maybe pick a different Tour player to channel. Maybe Tiger circa 1997?

Technically speaking, Jimmy's driving is atrocious. He was only one spot from DFL in strokes gained driving last year.

 In my TM OO Mini I play the driver at 43.

 

In the TS4 its 43.75. Shaft is pretty much the same length but the larger head yields a bit more playing length.

My room mate back in the day at golf school down in San Diego still played the X100 in his driver.  Claimed that none of the graphite counterparts could keep up with his 128 mph swing.  He hit it pretty well.  My question to the OP is why you decided to go back to steel?  Is it better dispersion?  Perhaps something else?

Can you feel the head in the back swing? 130g's is pretty stout for static weight.

Weight

 

I swing around 118-120 but smooth. I dont "need" stout, but the weight keeps my handsy swing in control. I find a lot more fairways at a minimal cost of speed/distance.

 

The key is correct tipping and playing length, you dont play steel straight in at 45" lol

Im not sure I feel the head specifically, but I feel the weight.

Yes I know you don't play steel straight in.  43.5 inches was the standard for driver back in the day.
