Buyer issue please advise

I recently sold a used ts3 driver head with crystal clear pics and I get a message from the buyer yesterday showing marks that I know weren’t there when I shipped it. He paid venmo so I know there is no recourse but I offered a refund if I receive the club head back in the exact condition it was sent in which according to his pics I know I won’t. I have been selling and buying on here for years and this is my first issue. What would you guys do?

If you know for a fact them marks weren't there, and the item was packaged in a way the marks couldn't have happened from shipping, i would tell the buyer sorry but the item is not in the same condition as when i sent it and there is nothing you can do, maybe a partial refund if he returned it, but that would be it

Yea i asked if the box was damaged in any way and he sent pics and said it wasnt. It almost appears that the club head was dropped upon opening.

Was this a deal with @leftyman? He posted about a refund issue and has been advised to post his issue in DND.

I am the buyer and sent a message to the seller after opening about the scratches and dents that were not detailed in his post in either pictures or his description. He generously offered a refund which I thought was great. However, after our communication and what he posted on here, he is not going to refund bc he thinks that I somehow put the scratches and dents on the club, even accusing me of dropping the club. He has a lot of recent and current items for sale so he very easily could have not know the condition of his club, the scratches and dents are easily visible in correct lighting and can be felt by a fingernail. I used Venmo which I now know isn’t ideal for these transactions. So lesson learned for me. I just asked that in his future items, he posts better pictures or descriptions of the conditions of his items so no one has this issue in the future

Now im being told he can see the marks/dents in the pics I posted on my listing!?!  Here are the exact pics that were on my listing with the club. I have never and will never try to hide anything in pics on here to sell a used golf club. Im done

The lighting in the crown photo can possibly mask a defect.  Not saying that it is, but I would want more photos if I were the buyer.

I think the small specks/scratches are moot.  It is a used club.

Let's say it was not damaged by the purchaser - it should be refunded.  The seller's pictures are suspect with the bright lights reflecting off of the crown.

This is a tough one.

Agree.  Ad photos could mask those discrepancies.

Is it fair/relevant to ask how Venmo came to be used as its specifically and strongly advised NOT to use?

Sadly I think both they buyer and the seller share the blame on this one.

Buyer - 100% should not have paid with venmo. Should have requested better pictures. Also those "dents" are so tiny that one could argue they are to be expected on any used club.

Seller - should have taken better/more photos. If those dents and scratches were there they should have been in the description at the very least.

I used Venmo bc it’s been about 2-3 years since I bought anything on here and didn’t see the posts about not using it. So I know that’s on me. Seller sent both Venmo and PP info, Venmo was just the one I chose 🤷‍♂️. I’m not expecting any refund at this point. Just a lesson learned for the future

Was there a description of the head other than “used”?

So the seller brought up Venmo first?

If I was the seller, I’d just refund and take better pics next time. Keep my reputation as a good seller. Shipping on a driver head isn’t that much. I’d eat shipping to buyer and ask buyer to eat shipping back. Take better pics and relist on BST. Sometimes it’s hard to get tiny imperfections to show up, especially on gloss black items.

Would you refund first and then have buyer ship back or refund after receiving the head back?

Refund before getting it back? is that a serious question?
