Low spin ball with driver and irons, but good spin with wedge?

Bridgestone is the answer.  RX or BX depending on your SS. The reactive cover tech transformed their entire line. Finally a tech claim that actually makes a real difference.

Agree on the Bridgestone RX, but I actually find the TP5x to be longer, it just doesn’t feel as good as the Bridgestone. TP5x spins maybe a little less with the wedges but it’s subtle

I've been hitting both the AVX and ProV1 indoor for the last month and I honestly can't tell the difference feel wise.  Can't tell which one goes further but doesn't seem like much difference.  Need to try the new ProV1 to see how it feels and plays.

I may give the AVX a try on my first round out for the spring season, which may be this week if the weather holds.

The Snell MTB-X is lower spin off the driver, longer and mid irons, but spins well and short irons and around the green.  Firmer feel than the AVX and RX, but might fit what your looking for.

This is the holy grail that every major ball OEM is developing. All the multilayer cast urethane covered premium balls are trying to balance these tradeoffs.

The Major OEMs can make balls go further but are restricted by USGA & R&A regulations so all the balls available now from the Pro V1 to your Top-Flites go all the same distance off the driver under controlled conditions.  For short game spin, you can't go wrong with a tour level ball but it will only perform as long as you have good wedge technique with clean and sharp(ish) grooves.

One nice thing about testing golf balls is... it’s cheap to experiment compared to buying clubs. Buy 1 sleeve at a time or split a dozen with someone. I look for sales / closeouts. 9 holes playing a new ball should be enough to judge yay or nay.

Forgot to mention, I have a very moderate swing speed... more like senior swing speed.  I know some say swing speed doesn't matter, but I think (prefer) something around 80-85 compression.  Soft but not mushy.

This + GBones post above = Bridgestone B RX

I'm a B X user, for the same reason you are seeking but its firmer.

There's about 5 streams on each page that reference the BX as the holy grail to many but some still prefer pro v1. Some question the swing speed myth that Bridgestone claims is deciding factor between the RX an X lines, but sure the RX is softer.

Was after same kind of ball and AVX and Bridgestone RX are the best i found. AVX a little longer and RX spins a little better around the greens but both deliver the goods.

I believe the RX launches higher than the AVX, if that matters.

I've tested them all, and the simple answer is Tour B X.  It's like playing two different balls in one.

Long and low spin wind fighter off the driver, yet approach shots and chips have all the spin and control you could want.

I have NEVER played a ball that does both. Every other ball on the market sacrifices one for the other.

Give it a shot... you won't be sorry!

This. The only firm ball that I've found that spins more on short wedges is the Pro V1 X.

When the CS-XLS drops I'll probably test it and the Z-star X too. I'd try the TP5X, but in salt water balance tests, they were by far the most out of balance.

The '19 PV1X spun a little more. I'll see if I can take a few passes tonight. I plan on testing most of them when I can my hands on all of them.

Thanks. Been playing the 2020 B X and loved it until I ran out. On a whim I bought a box of the '21 V1 and loved the short game control, but flies a little low off the tee for me. The B X seemed longer too and still had pretty good greenside spin. Wondering if the '21Vx would be better. Or just go back the B X because it is near perfect.

to me the TP5x seems to have more lateral movement (axis tilt) than others.  I dont have any data, but it seems that the same shot with a TP5 or TP5x seems to move left/right more than the others..

Surprised there's been no mention of the Tour BXS. The TXG videos show this is one of the best balls for wedge spin while still being pretty low spin off the driver

I finally was a able to test out the Oncore Vero X1 on the course yesterday and I'm very impressed.  My goal was to play a round with these, the Snell MT-B and Pro V1x Left Dash.

The Vero X1 was extremely straight and for a day that had 10-20MPH winds (and 502*), it held up great with no ballooning.  It is as long as the Pro V's I gamed last year, straighter and spin seemed to be similar.  My short game saw one hop and stop and similar off the irons on full shots.

I will look forward to the same test with the Snell's and Left Dash models over the next 7-10 days.

If your swing speed is low some spin off of your driver is not a bad thing.

I am still of the thought that the Bridgestone lineup has the best balls made to date.  I think Srixon is second, just wish their covers were more durable, but at the cost I stick with the Srixon.

If you want more wedge spin the XS models in the Bridgestone lineup are the best, whether it is the RXS or just the plain XS.  SS can help choose between the two, but delivery matters a ton too, so I know some highish speed guys that play both.
