Do you break up with your old putter before getting another??

I’ll see something that sparks me and off I go.  I’m putting really well with my Anser yet there’s this thought in my head..

Recent spark was seeing an old Ram Zebra and, liking almost everything Ram ever did, I found an older pat pending one on Ebay and its on its way.  Well it’s in the hands of the Post office.  So maybe sometime this year.

Anyways, I wanted to see if a face balanced putter would be cool with my stroke now.

A BIG plus for me is that the Zebra was made when putters didn’t weigh so damn much like almost everything made today.  Plus, with the zebra, you can take off the bottom and add weight if wanted.   Pretty cool putter that I always thought was a bit ahead of its time.

Through all this all this the anser and I are OK, I hope.

I have affairs with many other putters while trying to stay loyal to one.

More loosely, I'm a plumber neck Anser head guy, I may try different ones but that's what I putt best with. I keep trying different styles (and grips) but fall back to a blade.

I want to putt well with other stuff because there is some beautiful stuff out there...

 Case in point...

At this rate, I'm not in a relationship with a putter long enough to call the relationship committed, update social media to "in a relationship ", etc. Until my putter and I have the talk, there is no commitment. Therefore there is no breakup. I get a new putter and if it works better than my current one then I ghost the current one.

I do have that 1 putter that I keep around. Give her a call every now and then. Play around. Rekindle some kind of small fire. Then she shows why she is a holla-back putter and she's tossed aside again for a while. I'd like to get rid of her, but she does things that no other putter does. She's a plumber's neck anser milled. And she's always naked. Look at her nice, rounded bumpers...

I love ram zebras!  I used one throughout high school (as well as an answer coincidentally enough).  I still have one that I roll on the carpet from time to time.  I’ve thought about getting a stroke lab Tuttle just because it reminds me of the zebra.

I’m in the same boat.  I’m very much playing the field.  Eventually I have to tell the putter “look it’s not you it is me”.  That is definitley the truth.  The putting issue is with me, not the putter haha

Oh I'm honest with the anser, I tell her "it's you, you're not forgiving enough when I do something even slightly bad, and there are days you get wildly crazy." We both know we're just not a complete, long term fit. But there are days where we are lightening in a bottle.

My relationship with my putter is definitely classified as "open". I will have my gamer at the time and my many backups ready to go if the gamer doesn't feel right. And if none of them feel right, I'm searching on here. Over the summer, I had one of my best rounds ever, a nice -7 64 from the white tees, but the putter that I used didn't feel good. I switched the next day.

I'm working on being more faithful to my current gamer. Realizing when I putt bad that it's most likely my fault through bad green reading or leaving myself difficult putts and such. But it's tough when I have 9 putters all eager to make it into the starting lineup.

Let's be honest, most of these are mail-order putters and don't expect much... a warm room and some carpet play in the winter, in my trunk all summer. The best ones know what I like so I don't take as many strokes as I used to, but they accompany me on out of state trips to upscale venues and seem happy enough; on the other hand, they fly in the baggage compartment and sometimes I let my friends play with them.

I subscribe to the theory that there are only so many putts in a putter, just like only so many showers in a bar of soap.  On the other hand, I feel a putter can regenerate putts if left in the garage long enough.  Case in point is my Odyssey Center Shaft #7.  After 9 months in the garage thinking about its misdeeds I have put it back in the bag and it's like a new putter again.  Hardly misses at all.  Odyssey does know and realize future misdeeds can relegate it back to the garage for further putt regeneration.  There is currently a YES Tracy II regenerating putts and looking for a return to action.

We'll see.

There's a reason my sig says "This week's putter".

I have a few that are favored more than others, but they all see a little action from time to time.

I did something completely out of character over the winter. I got rid of them all, started fresh with a One and Done and ordered my first custom from Byron. Went and rolled a White Hot OG the other day, but restrained myself from buying it. Trying to remain faithful, for now.

OMG that is so funny and so true that it hurts!

I only do that with inanimate objects not people. Putters don't have feelings.

No feelings?

mine sure seem too. Get it upset and the rest of the day is going to be bad.  A beer seems to help every once in a while, often enough to keep trying.
