The thing is though, he is swinging within himself. It looks all gangly, but he`s not going all out. The way the broadcasters sell it is that he`s swinging out of his shoes, and compared to everyone else it does look like he`s a madman. That`s why he`s hitting those insane speeds in practice, so his body can take more swings at lessers speeds. There is definitely method to the madness.

Other players notice, but they are getting further and further behind the curve.  I watch from Japan and at Kapalua this year Hideki was emulating the Bryson swing at the range, but you could see his body was not prepared for it. Tiger and a few others could put up the speed numbers, but they didn`t know how to harness it either. That`s BD`s genius.

Like it or not, he`s a revolutionary player. A lot of people won`t, but it comes off as jealousy. Serious small man energy. I think it`s awesome.

Not sure you know what the word jealousy means and Bryson is not a genius. How far the qualifications have tumbled if he’s considered one.

Exactly.

I know this is horrible but I got the feeling that post was from a millennial who is very excited about BD and got a little out over his skis.

I feel the same way been watching golf since 97. It seems like Bryson isn’t even playing his best and continues to

win. If he tightens up his game I can see 2 majors and 10 wins total a year.

Great API this year, all things considered. Just a great course. Westwood impresses. Congrats to Bryson.

Have to say I miss Mr. Palmer.

Agree with all of these sentiments. I hope the Palmer name and imagery remains for many years to come.

And I really enjoyed hearing the crowds once again. Well, most of the time.

Genius is synonymous with exceptional. He is doing exceptional things in his chosen field. He has transformed himself from a run of the mill player, distance wise, into one of the longest players on tour. All the while his form has remained intact (that`s the genius part). A lot of people have tried to do that, but the great majority fail - they drop off the earth, never to be seen again. Bryson is an exception In a short time, he`s gone on to win a lot of big tournaments - and other players and people typing here, dismiss it. Fitzpatrick saying it`s not a skill, was a fine example. Find another player who has made a transformation that has had a similar impact. You can`t. How has he done it? A lot of hard work, but there`s more to it than that. Sorry, you can`t see it from that high place you occupy.

Sure, I could have chosen a better word that jealousy. I just find people`s strong dislike for someone unfathomable, unless they do something criminal or whatever. I personally don`t care about a players personality. I want to be entertained. I don`t understand everyone`s motivation for disliking the guy. It just comes off really small. I`m sure you have difficulty fathoming that too.

good lord, he's worked out so he can swing a club faster ... that's not "genius" ... he's worked his butt off, for sure ... but he won 4 times in 2018 before even thinking about picking up a weight ... his 'impact' can't be measured yet, and if it is measured, being the distance king isn't that much of a big deal ... see john daly ... the post above this one is why he's won his last 3 tournaments ...

More impressed today with Bryson’s pressure putting.

Agreed.

I thought for sure he was going to bogey 16. But he made the putt. Then that pressure 5 footer for the win on 18 after Westwood's clutch par from a mile away? Awesome.

Kid's more than just a big hitter.

I read my original post..Bryson is the new Tiger..not the next Tiger...just making sure...fire away

By what measure?

Before you use his name in the same breath with TW, he needs a stretch like this,

25 wins and 7 Majors in 4 years.

Bryson is way way way behind but let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and let his run start now.

Come back in 4 years and let’s see how your prediction holds up ; )

The new Tiger...except a better driver...if he can make putts for 10 years like Tiger did..

watch out.

Absolutely not. Bryson's shot making/scoring ability is nowhere near prime Tiger. 2000 Tiger could hit the ball like dogshit and turn a 75 into a 70.  That year Tiger was averaging almost 300 off the tee while hitting 70% of his fairways. He was also number 2 in putting average, number 1 in GIR, number 3 in scrambling and was either number 1 or 2 in every scoring category.  I understand stats don't tell the fully story, but there is no chance in hell Bryson competes with prime Tiger. 2000 Tiger was straight out of a video game. (Sorry for the rant)

Correct, there's nothing Tiger-like about Bryson.  Shakespeare is just trolling for a reaction.

Again..new tiger ...not next...Bryson stats this week are crazy good..top 5 in driving..strokes gained driving..scrambling..2nd in gir...worst stat is putting.  He is the new tiger in taking the game to another level compared to other tour pros ...or at least might take it to another level.  He will be betting favorite at the masters is my guess. His last two wins are on us open type set ups...so if he wins another tourney probably the favorite there as well. Thats tiger like. No one would compare his game to prime tiger, but my statement is he drives it better and if he doesnt miss a putt when it matters for ten years like tiger, then we might be comparing careers. He is the only player right now that seems to win without really seeing his a game.

Fwiw, tiger circa 2006-2008 was the truest ball striking our planet has ever seen...

Just my opinion but those years are wildly underrated...

nothing compares to his Hoylake iron play...nothing
