Favorite Above the Knee Shorts

Looking to get some new shorts this year but most of the golf shorts I'm seeing are 9" or 10" inseam. Anyone find some good shorts that are 8" inseam?

Just buy the longer shorts and get them hemmed. Then your options are limitless.

I just bought some Public Rec shorts, waiting on them to ship. Supposed to be shorter and slimmer than other shorts but all stretch.

Not glamorous but Amazon has an 8” inseam golf short for ~$20. I just ordered a pair to see what they’re like material and fit wise. Should be here tomorrow.

J Crew Tech Shorts. You can get either 9 or 7” inseams. Wear them all the time.

I like a Speedo. Sits well above the knee. My club doesn’t like them. I’ll admit, people do stare.

Target's All In Motion golf shorts have an 8" inseam. I bought a few pairs last year and have been very pleased. They're basically the poor man's lululemon.

Peter Millar, Bonobos Golf, and vineyard Vines all have really nice 8" inseam golf shorts.

In all seriousness, speedos aside, I would add in a +1 for getting them tailored. Opens up a lot more options and you end up with something which is a perfect fit for you.

For those that say to get them tailored, that is actually not the best option for wanting the right fit. The drop in the crotch of a pant or short directly correlates to the length and silhouette of the garment. So, you could get a baggier short with a long drop and then tailor them to above the knee and your inseam could shorten to as little as 2-3” which would make the look and fit of the short look really weird. If the shorts are slim, they most likely won’t be over the knee. Just keep that in mind when you tailor longer shorts or pants to shorter shorts.

This. I have about 5 pairs and they are perfect. these are the ones i have, but you can get any inseam length

That’s a 98% cotton short. I would go with the nylon version for summer.

Linksoul boardwalker might be the best golf shorts ever made. Idk what the inseam is, but they fall just above the knee for me.

Adidas ultimate 365 shorts come in 8.5 inseam. Can get them on eBay for $29 most of the time. Under Armour iso chill shorts are 9” inseam. Both are very stretchy and comfortable

I have always bought shorts and got them hemmed above the knee.  Here's the problem, which someone eluded to earlier.  I had a bunch of Old Navy and Adidas shorts and after they got hemmed 1-2 inches, the leg opening was so wide it was like a garbage bag flapping in the wind.  The best ones with the most narrow leg opening were the Linksoul Boardwalker shorts.  I picked up six pairs this winter to get hemmed, to go with the two I had from last year. It's not perfect, but it's close enough and they are a very good short.

you guys pay $70 for shorts?  i looked at these based on what i read and im like DAYUUUMMM.......i need to find a cheaper alternative.....2 kids in college now...im on a budget!! lol

Grabbed some Vineyard Vines shorts with a shorter inseam.  Hits me about 2" above the knee.  They are some flavor of polyester wicking type material.  Very comfortable.  Bad thing is I think they discontinued that golf specific style that I have.  They had "tee holders" in the pockets so I don't think there was anything there that was game changing.

Shop for sales, man.  J.Crew, Bonobos, and VVines all have great sales from time to time.  Sign up for their email mailing lists and keep an eye out - if you move quick it's not uncommon at all to get these for 1/2 that a pair - sometimes less.
