Golf Club Competition Booking Systems

IDEAS NEEDED!
Our club currently uses the BRS online club booking system for members to book their tee times.

On a Saturday it has been so popular in the early tee times that within 60 seconds all slots are booked.

This means unless you are very tech savy and fastest finger first you will not get the tee time you want.

Has anyone got any ideas or solutions from their own clubs?
We have moved away from the old “book in the club” option as many members work all week and need the flexibility that booking online gives.

You are not a member at Elgin GC by any chance? Exactly the same issue there at the moment. If you are not fast, you are last there at the moment.

Let people sign up for Saturday morning for a day or two, then have a random draw every week, whether it's a single to a foursome.

I feel your pain. Our club opens up tee times at 6pm on a Wed or Thurs and the site usually crashes. You need to have the mouse hovering over your mouse dead on 6pm or you get locked out. Biggest bugbear is people book out slots and then don't play.

For weekends-- or maybe just Saturdays.

I would block the first 60 - 120 minutes for members who are willing to be put in a foursome arranged by the pro shop .. maybe handicaps help to determine the groups in general... ie keep 25s away from 2s. If you are willing to play with others at your club, you should not get shut out-- and I think it fosters new friendships at clubs... if you don't like it, take your shot via the computer at a tee time later with your group.

Foretees has a lottery system that helps with this. Everyone puts in their tee time requests for a certain day, and then a few days ahead (or whatever the pro shop sets it to) it will do an automated lottery drawing/assignment. I believe it can be set up to either draw at random or do a weighted lottery where someone who didn't get their choice of time on the last draw has an increased chance of getting it over another group on the current draw. The weighted lottery helps solve the issue of people complaining that the same group always gets the same prime tee time. People entering the lottery can request a specific time or a window of times that would be acceptable. My past club that did this only used the lottery feature on weekend mornings as there wasn't enough demand during other days/times to warrant its use.
