Prev. Gen Callaway Drivers- Help me Decide

For myself, I'd go with Mavrik standard, thats also what I currently play. My swing speed is around 112-113, with a + AoA, and the standard Mavrik (for me) gave me the best overall numbers and is very forgiving. I didn't like the sound from the Epic Flash series personally.

As a side note, I've tried 4 of the 2021 drivers so far (G425LST, Rad Speed XB, Sim 2, TSi3) none of them were worth the upgrade IMO, the numbers were either on par with the Mavrik, or maybe 2 - 3 yards longer on perfect strikes.

Both heads will perform very similar, the Mav may be a smidge lower spinning for some folks (I am one of them but its not a lot: EF was very gameable).

I have not played the Blue Velocore but it has a great reputation. The MSI White is a solid OEM shaft but some will lean Velocore there.

The problem I have with the EF is the sound was me, especially indoors where I do practice a few months a year. Second, I do not like the line across the crown. Superficial but it doesn't suit my eye nor ears.

Mavrik is muted and line-be-gone was applied at the factory. Thank you Callaway.

Some folks really like that crown line and if you are in that category then EF may be your winner 🙂

Mavrik.  Great head, and sounds and feels much better than the EF.  I know you might be swayed by the Ventus, which is tempting.  But the Rogue White is a great shaft in its own right.  I still had my EF when I received my Mavrik, and I could never play the EF again.  Sound and feel were just too harsh for me.  YMMV.

Its your choice, I chose the mavrik sz based on sound and performance. With the opti fit shaft adapter, you can have choices as far as shafts go, I did like the rouge white in 60 gram, but I have several other shafts from previous Callaway drivers to choose from. Its a benefit and its why I stay with the Callaway driver at this time.  I will say that I waited till the mavrik was on sale, price is always a concern, shop

Callaway pre owned, great way to buy.

I play an Epic Flash Sub Zero with the Hzrdus Yellow HC and I’m very happy with the performance of it but I would also agree with others that the sound is quite possibly the worst sounding driver Callaway has made in a while. It honestly doesn’t bother me playing usually.

The original Epic sounded MUCH better (the usual Callaway composite wood bat crack sound). The Mavrik sounds better than Flash but I don’t know how much better.

I play the Mavrik with Rogue White and love it. Much better sound and feel (they’re related, obviously) than the Flash.

For driver head it was Mav all day for me as well.  Mavrik was way more forgiving and better feeling IMO.  Having said that weirdly I preferred the EF fairways.  Maybe because you can swap shafts.  Rogue white is a big hitters shaft me no can handle.

Mavrik head, Ventus Blue shaft.  I've gamed the Rogue Silver and it was a good shaft.  Tested the Rogue White and it was ok.  Both were a little boardy.  I'm partial to the Ventus line because of good dispersion and feel plus their line up is diverse enough to fit most golfers.

Really? I’m am not a big boy, by any stretch (100-105 SS) and the White is as advertised (mid spin, mid launch).

I am low-mid 90s, and I can easily handle the Rogue White 60 stiff.  Works very well for me, I might add.  If it does get too stout, I also have the 60R around.  Great shafts.

Tempo and transition can allow a more stout shaft as well.  It’s probably between my ears but I have always preferred the FEEL of most Mitsubishi shafts.  I’m low to mid 90’s as well and play stiff.  But your point is well made.  I now recall my buddies Rogue white was a 70s not 60.  That will make a huge diff.  It felt like rebar.  He’s a gorilla though just smokes the ball.

I should clarify that I said that for me the Rogue White was mid launch/mid spin but it is actually a mid launch/low spin shaft by design. It has definitely taken some spin off of the driver and fairway wood for me but I am such a high spin player it is really a mid spin, for me.

I'm curious about forgiveness between the two, I see a lot that the Mavrik is more forgiving due to the updated flash face, but is the standard really more forgiving than the epic flash non sub zero with the EF's shape being so large and elongated? Seems as though the shape and size alone would make it more forgiving compared, but hey if the Mavrik is a more compact shape that is also more forgiving I am all in.
