Any lefties planning on going 5.5?

In the market for a putter, and have been reading up on the new phantom 2021 5.5.  I know the classic x7 was released in lefty but seems pretty rare.  Seems unlikely to find a store stocking the 5.5 in lefty. Anyone ordering this blind? The original phantoms seemed to have mixed reviews so any feedback would be appreciated. FYI I have a moderate arc stroke.

Yeah that’s what I was looking at. Just tough to shell out that much without ever trying it. It’s just a beautiful shape.

I will be pre ordering it ASAP. Always loved that head shape and this will go better with my stroke with the toe hang. If it doesn’t work out I can always game it on a Scotty page and make the majority of it back.

I’ve never ordered a scotty before- is there an option to order the putter with a grip that is similar to the ping pp60 with the flat front? That or the superstroke pistol GTR? I know I could obviously just get the putter and throw one of those grips on but if I’m gonna order my first scotty I would like an official grip with it, and I can’t seem to find what he offers grip-wise.

check scotty site for comparable grips. You can try contacting your local big box store or club pro after that to see if they can accommodate your request. These putters are hot ticket items, so that may also provide some challenges.

IMO, don't sleep on this, get your pre order in today if you want hope of it shipping out by the 25th.

Your best bet is to pick up a large matador grip if you want it to be a Scotty grip. Never tried to change the grip option on an order as I have a bunch I order when there is club cameron releases so I always have a few spares handy.

Yes, I blindly preordered through my club. Hoping it’s all that us lefties have dreamed of.  My club wasn’t sure if they’d ship on the 26th or if it would arrive on the 26th. Does anyone know?

110%.  I have one on pre-order.  I am generally a Newport guy, and love my 009-M to bits, but always like having a mallet or two around as well.  This is right along the lines of what I have been waiting for, and no need to overpay for a Tour model, so order placed.  Grabbed a bunch of putters just sitting around unused in the basement to offset the cost.

How do they calculate when to ship it out of their warehouses if people are in different places in the US

I can only say, in today’s environment, with OEM delays everywhere, and shipping delays, I don’t know that you can count on anything.  But I am sure they will get these out to the retailers, and the retailers will get these out to buyers, as soon as possible.

Just put my order in today for the 5.5 gonna take the plunge. Was quoted 3-4 weeks due to my custom shaft length (33”). Pumped!

I'm very interested, but too chicken to order without trying. Hopefully local golf store will get one in... even a RH to try would be fine.

I have one on order. I currently play an Odyssey Seven with a slant neck so a high quality milled putter in this shape and configuration seems like everything I ever wished for in a putter.

+1...can't stand to even look at this head shape, let alone putt with it.

Not really a mallet guy myself, kinda want to have a mallet as a backup if my putting goes to 💩 but would be something I need to try in store honestly. But for the price I'd probably just fund another putter.

 

But glad Scotty finally released this head to lefties.

I ordered mine on March 15. Arrived yesterday with custom length, lie, loft. Was quotes 3-4 weeks to ship but came much faster. Love it on my putting mat. Had it on the course today and March bumpy super slow greens I didn’t make a damn thing outside 2 feet. Blaming the greens and the putting lesson ive been working on a big posture change. But everything has been a pull, which seems backward since I’m coming from an Odyssey 7 (not slant neck) with much less toe hang.

Any more reviews on the 5.5? I’ve seen a few lefties up for sale, curious why they seem to be turning over so quick

I absolutely love mine. This is the putter I’ve been looking/waiting for for quite a while. As a lefty, I’ve used Evnroll ER2, ER7, and SC Special Select NP2 and nothing has totally worked for me until this putter. Very happy with my 5.5. I’ll probably just add a little lead tape to take it from D4 to about D7 swing weight.

Love mine too, coming from a Futura X7M. Wanted a smaller head but the benefits of a mallet and preordered as soon as the lefty was announced. As others have said, the head felt a bit light but I swapped out the 15 gram weights for 20s and it’s perfect.

Ive had mine about 2 weeks. Only rolled My carpet...but love the feel.  Hoping to get out this week.
