Should I switch from X100's

Morning all,

I'm currently playing a set of Taylormade M3 irons, which I got fitted for a couple of years ago. I'm switching to a set of Sub70 699's in a couple of weeks. I love everything about these irons from looks to playability as well as having access to speaking to the CEO is incredible.

I'm currently playing X100's in my M3's. I called my fitter to ask and he said it's hard to say without seeing me hit them and him properly fitting me, but said the X100's should be fine.

Can anyone offer any feedback on this as I'm pulling the trigger on these soon?

Keep in mind when I did speak to Jason, he did say to leave the lofts alone, even though the 699 specs are 1 degree stronger on the 4/5 irons and .5 degree stronger on the 6/7 irons, but I can always get those adjusted as needed when I get the irons.

Would you stay with the X100's or go to a KBS/Project X shaft in XStiff?

Thanks for the input

I'd say if you've played the X100s extensively and like the feel, maybe stick with what you know unless you want to try something different. X100 pulls are relatively easy to come by and reshafting an iron isn't that difficult so could always try the KBS or PX and then swap into X100s if you don't like them. Pretty safe bet to say you could sell the shaft pulls to recoup the cost of buying replacements

If you were fit for the x100, like the way they feel and are overall happy with them, I see no reason to change.

If you can, I think it wouldn't hurt to go hit some balls with some different shafts, even if it's for the piece of mind that the X100 is still what you like. As mentioned above, you likely will get your money back if you replace the x100 at another time.

I switched from x100s and s400s (20 years) to kbs tour 130s 2 years ago despite thinking a 'med traj/spin' shaft wouldn't be fore me.  The feel is very different.  KBS shafts have a higher balance point so it feels more rigid to me in the hands and softer towards the clubhead.  it took a bit to get used to the feel and flight but I love them now.  my spin is the same but launch is slightly higher but flatter.  I'm glad I made the switch but I don't believe everyone has the same performance as I do with iron shafts.  So if you want to be safe x1s are the best bet.

When I got fitted for my p790's I hit all the major shaft offerings. Any of the options would have worked for me in the normal world so try not to stress over it... but the #'s slightly favored PX 6.5's over x100's. Felt I had better ball striking and dispersion appeared more consistent with the limited sample size.

Fitters have the options to let you swing them all - let the feel & data help guide your decision. Just my 0.02.

I got fitted last year into X100.  I also tried KBS, Project X LS, and Nippon Modus.  KBS and Project X LS were a terrible fit for me.  Ball contact got much worse with those.  But I still think about the Nippon Modus.  I would love to get a second set of clubs with those shafts.

Between the the X100, KBS, and Project X I would stick with the X100 but if you are looking to try something new look into those Nippon Modus

I just found out the X100's won't be available until the end of the month. They're willing to give me the PX 6.5 shafts for no upcharge, which is normally $120 upcharge. Do I wait for the X100's to get back in stock or just do the PX 6.5's. Suggestions needed, I know they're completely different shafts, thanks all

Wait for your best fit and feel.  Don't be persuaded by the price or "value" difference

Would you rather play something you are very familiar with and know works for you, or something else?
