Well, you can light heart self deprecate sarcastic whatever you wish.

It doesn’t change the the fact that the name of the event is the Open Championship. Just ask any winner.

That was before he was enlightened. I heard it happened in the club bar.

Well I have no idea what he filled it with.

Possibly claret - which is red wine from Bordeaux.

That’s in France where they call it the French Open.

Most of my wine purchases are Chilean and Argentinian.

Some very good wine at very reasonable prices.

Absolutely, and even when we were habitual wine drinkers, cant afford be buyin Bordeaux all the time.
But, it’s the soil and the distinctive earthy qualities, within the context of all of the other attributes, that make them my favorite. That really grounds the experience, no pun intended, and contributes to something  so full and complex, yet finishes so cleanly.

The Open Championship is the first major and, coincidentally, has the best venues and are the most well run. Oh, and the fans are great as well.

You mean the rebranded Open Championship which used to be called the British Open?

What tournaments are called is very regional that's why there is confusion. In Canada, the Canadian Open is already called "The open championship" so it would get confusing.... So for us the "British" one we call "The Grand Jolly Old Golf Tournament of Britain". Whereas the US open is known as the "Golf Super Bowl"

Similarly, we had a Canadian Masters from 1994-1999, so again too confusing to call the tournament at Augusta the Masters. So we call it "the Southern Spring Major golf event"

Little known fact is that when Dean Beman tapped Pete Dye to design Sawgrass he told him the tournament would be known as The Monster Truck Grand Nationals of Golf since The Players Championship was already in use by the Tri-State Billiards Association.

I don't understand any of this. Does it have anything to do with squid?
