Best Minimalist/Sunday Bags

Recommended Posts

Looking for WRX'er recommendations for replacing my old Sun Mountain Sunday bag. Got a lot of years out of it, but it's time to replace.

I only carry 7 clubs(sometimes 8), so looking for a small but top quality, long lasting bag that will wear nicely.

Preference is canvas or leather but open to all bags that people have had good experience with.

Thanks all.

My old Titleist sunday bag was my go to for many years.  Quite small, unstructured and very light.  I finally replaced it with a Jones Players bag which is a bit larger, more solid; maybe not quite what you're looking for, but I've been happy with it and I would recommend taking a look at the different Jones offerings at least.  I wanted to replace with a new Titleist sunday bag but they just aren't what they used to be.

I'm the market as well.  My Mizuno Scratch Sac has been my practice bag for over decade.  It's literally made over 1,500 trips to the range. I'm always surprised they aren't more popular. I cant imagine dragging my whole bag out to the range .

It has arguably given me the biggest bang for my buck of any equipment purchase I've ever made.  But somehow I keep thinking I can replace it for the $59 I remembered paying for it....and bristle at dropping $120 for a current Sunday bag. Again, I know it's not logical. I'll burn through $120 in 2 rounds of green fees.  So why not invest in something I'll use for years....

If you're after high quality canvas or leather give Mackenzie a look

+ 1 for the MacKenzie Walker.  Great quality, but it isn’t inexpensive 😉

sorry man a Sunday bag not a full blown light weight walker.

I hear you, but when you look at it in person it's darn near the size of a Sunday bag, but with the added benefits of a stand and a bit more space

I like the Sun Mountain bags a lot but was looking for something without a stand. Thinking of the good old days of being a kid walking with my bro, sharing the same bag each with a few clubs of our own as he’s a lefty and I’m a righty. There’s just nothing like walking a course on a warm Saskatchewan morning.
Thanks for everybody’s input. I ended up going with the Jones bag as it was easily customizable and liked the colour choices. I’ll be sure to post some pics when it arrives in 4-6 weeks.

Still excited to get my Jones bag but found another cool one in the meantime. I was just wandering through GolfTown (our CDN box store) and came across this Projekt Sunday bag. Very well made, about 3 pounds, 3 way top and it only retails for $90 CDN(about $70 USD). Can't beat that!

I picked up the same bag last fall.  It is really nice and lightweight.  The only two thing I would change is, get rid of the umbrella sleeve at at times I just wish it had legs.

But, I just picked up a very nice used Ping K56 stand bag which has 4 full length dividers and is almost the exact same dimensions as the Projekt bag.

Thanks for the input. I agree on the umbrella sleeve. But I was trying to find bags without legs so this also fits the bill.

Linksoul has a Sunday bag. Also not cheap but they run deals often.

I have one and LOVE it. It can hold 12 clubs easily, and has enough pockets for you to weigh it down if you wish. It is completely unstructured, very light, and has a two-way strap for proper balance.

I believe it only comes in a “heathered” Army greenish color. I don’t love the color, but wasn’t a deal breaker. And sometimes I find I wish it had a rudimentary stand assembly just because it would literally be the perfect bag if there was some way to prop it up occasionally (but I also get that is what makes it so light). Anyway, check it out. You won’t be sorry.

If you're looking to keep a more reasonable price point, it's tough to overlook Jones. I picked up a players series last year and it's been a great bag all around with a very traditional look. If you're looking for something higher quality, I'd recommend looking at Mackenzie, Elliot, or Steurer & Jacoby make beautiful bags as well. Or if playful and modern is more your vibe, Tyler golf bags has some fun patterns available.
