Nashville Golf & Athletic Club members?

Anybody up here local to the Nashville area and a member at NGAC? I’m newer to the area and just bought a house by club. Ive been considering a membership and would love to hear your thoughts on the overall experience. In particular, on whether or not there’s a good amount of junior members under 40. I’m your average 16ish handicap, but would love to have some low stakes games and Saturday AM dogfights accessible. Not to mention just a reliable group of others that enjoy a casual round. 

 

Also, I know one of the drawbacks is that it’s golf only, but I’m good with that. Our neighborhood has a pool for my wife and two young children. Our house has a view of a Par 5 green. I believe it’s either 13 or 15. Ever since the day we’ve moved in a year ago, I’ve had the itch to make this post. Now that my almost 4 and 2 year olds are getting bigger, I’m thinking this could be a good way for them to learn in the future.

I left Nashville a few years ago but was a member at NGAC for a short time when I lived there. Obviously things could have changed but there were a couple of regular weekend games when I was there.

 

One was a stableford game where guys called in who wanted to play and the pro shop put together teams. It featured a wide range of players in terms of ability and age and the stakes were pretty low. That would probably be what you're looking for.

 

The other game was a blue tee game that had better players and there was a little more money on the line.

 

One thing you probably want to get clarification about is that when I was there I'm pretty sure kids under a certain age were not allowed on the golf course. I could be wrong and/or that might have changed, but I think that was the case.

In short and to answer your main question - NGAC is the best golf club in Nashville for under 40s. Strong membership and a true golf club so no problem finding a group or game.

OP - Did you end up joining? I recently moved close to this course and was a very avid golfer but I am coming off a layoff and really looking to get back into it again. Golf is not dead in Mid TN and I'm finding its getting harder and harder to even get a tee time these days.

No I haven’t, but I did have a chance to play it with a couple members a couple weeks ago. There’s currently a waitlist. The members also stated that it’s getting hard for them to even get tee times. From what I hear, part of that is due to membership being maxed out, but also be of some recent tee time reservation procedures that the club has implemented. 
 

Also, they just hired the greens keeper from Hermitage so the overall condition should start to improve. I noticed they had already started making some changes. 
 

I still think it’s a good value if you live close. 

it is pretty difficult track so you better take your A game!

Currently on the waitlist and played it a couple times - from talking to the shop they have plenty of games available and overall best value in the area. I’m in Franklin so in the meantime, I’ve been playing Hermitage and Kings Creek.
