shaft flex vs. trajectory

less flex - delofting club?
okay, i know a lot of times people say, the weaker the flex, the higher the trajectory, and that if you want a lower trajectory that you should use a stiffer flex. but if you used a weaker flex, wouldn't it flex more, and deloft the face of the club, giving you a lower trajectory. correct me if i'm wrong, but it seems to make sense. i'm curious because i am thinking of reshafting and going down a flex and want to lower my trajectory. if a weaker flex could help deloft the club, then i don't want to go over board with a weaker flex and high kickpoint shaft.

In this question, If you would like to have high/low trajectory, you should use the club with high/low loft, not change the shaft flex. Shaft is the key to deliver your ball to the right spot of the fairway and accuracy is very important for a good shaft. More importantly, shaft is the key to receive the feedback from hitting the ball. Club head is like a car's engine, shaft is transmition. You can just change the engine size in order to get the right poweras you would like to have low trajectory.

Changing flex will impact your accuracy, distance and trajectory. If you only want to focus on trajectory, I would suggest to change the club loft first. Since Shaft changing will need to check your personal swing speed, SW and kickpoint and there are a number of factors that you need to consider. Try to hit higher/ lower loft first and see what's the trajectory. if it is not working at all, try to test various flex's shafts and see the result.

i understand all that, but a shaft does effect trajectory, that is why there are low kick, mid kick and high kick point shafts. i also understand a lesser flex would effect accuracy, but we are working on the assumption that that is not a factor.

the situation is i am playing rifle shafts (mid kick point, soft tip), that could be too stiff for me and i am looking at reshafting. additionally i have a really high ball flight. i am considering going with tt dg shafts (high kick point, stiff tip) for a lower trajectory. what i am worried about is that if going with the lesser flex, that would be proper for me, create more lag in the shaft at impact, thus delofting the club and on top of that going to a high kick point shaft, if that wouldn't be too low.

The answer is no. It will not deloft the club. When you go to a waeker shaft the flex properties are more. Meaning at impact your shaft will flexx foward more as compared to a stiffer shaft causing the club face to have added loft. Understand that no matter how hard you swing, just before impact the shaft flexes foward andtowards the ball. I hope this helped
