I’m now rebooking for a third time. First strike out was April 2020. Would be leaving a week from tomorrow. But now I have my sights set on late September, early October. Best of luck for the summer trips. I wanted to try summer but it’s too hard to leave the family for that long when school is out.

The UK released its Green List Countries and my country Switzerland is not on it.

 

When do you think other countries will be added? 

 

And will travelling from green list countries still need a PCR test. Is the UK planning to allow fully vaccinated people to travel without PCR test? From what I know the EU is planning it.

Next review sounds like it will be first week in June.  I'd guess something like June 7th since that's the week of the G7.

Same here.  Just too much remaining uncertainty for the July timeframe.  In the process of rescheduling (again) for 2022.

 

Sadly won't be able to play N. Berwick, as they have an event the week that I'll be there.

 

Also hoping that TOC has removed most of the structures from the Open by the first week of August.  Anyone have any info on how long that normally takes?  Assuming that they won't have a Singles Lottery again for 2022, so queuing up early in the morning is the only likely option.

Just read that the UK reopening is going to be delayed 4 more weeks while they assess the effect of the Delta variant as the infections start to rise again. I know Scotland is doing their own thing, but it's not encouraging to see another setback. I guess suddenly my late September trip is back in limbo. When the EU said they were going to soften restrictions for the vaccinated, I thought the UK/Scotland would be close behind, but now I have my doubts again.

You will like October. Not near as crowded, its always a toss up for weather, but October has been nice the last couple times. Best of luck!

Looks like July 19 is a big step forward for easing restrictions in Scotland. But if I’m reading it right, the removal of quarantine for Amber countries (US is amber) only happens if you were vaccinated in the UK. I’m not getting that logic, isn’t travel within the UK already allowed? Why only recognize vaccines from the NHS. 
 

Any of you guys hearing anything else? I still can’t believe being vaccinated in the US wouldn’t be the ticket to the green list. 

 

I’m getting painfully close to my 60 day window again and really worry about having to cancel everything once more. I can’t risk losing all my deposits that lock in at 60 days.

I go home in 11 days, I will have quarantine for 10 days in my house, I am fully vaccinated in Texas.

 

They said in the next couple of weeks or so, this will include EU and USA vaccinated people. I am Moderna and it is also used in the UK. I know it will change just after I have finished my quarantine period. My Texan friend has a work trip to Aberdeen September 9 and I think he will be fine by then, he certainly is thinking he will be.

 

Sooooo frustrating, I want to golf and get my shiny new car! plus see friends.

 

Right now I think I will try and do St Andrews and Dornoch in the first two weeks of freedom plus lots at Royal Aberdeen.

 

But as I have been told but certainly not risking - as long as you do the two covid tests then no one will actually check up on you.

Uh oh, here we go. Just got an email from my B&B saying they’re not expecting to welcome overseas this year so they are closing Sept. 30 and canceling my reservation. The only reason I’m not freaking out is this B&B was purchased earlier this year and emailed to give me the chance to cancel since they planned to do away with breakfast. For all I know they are closing to renovate and come back as a full house rental, which I’ve seen a few others have done as well over the past year.
 

Regardless, not the news I was hoping for this week.

It seems Scotland is taking a much different approach than England and Ireland. I just spoke to a friend in Ireland yesterday and currently if you have vaccination proof there is no quarantine. Just seems like Scotland’s govt is all over the place with covid travel plans….

I think the UK are almost just winging it. Soooooo different to Texas where Covid hasn't existed for months and months.

Terrible, got a cancellation notice from United tonight. Looks like almost all flights to EDI are now cancelled in Sept. I think I have to face reality that I won’t be making my trip.

Sorry, dude.  I had to face the same disappointment when it became clear that the trip originally planned for 2020 was also not happening this summer.  All we can do is keep at it.  It'll happen.

 

But right now, it just sucks...

We had our trip got canceled last year and this year.

As of now, we are scheduled (for the third time) September 3rd to 11th.

I’ll believe it’ll happen when I’m onboard waiting to takeoff.

Todays London Times:

 

Millions of fully vaccinated travellers from Europe and the US will be allowed to enter England without quarantining from next week as part of a significant reopening of the border, it was confirmed today.

Grant Shapps, the transport secretary, said that people inoculated outside the UK would be able to enter from amber destinations from 4am on Monday, August 2.

Travellers will be required to submit a negative coronavirus test before boarding England-bound flights as well as taking a lab-based PCR test within two days of arriving.

 

Scotland will make their own decision soon.
