Tempe Area Grass Range

Recommended Posts

I was/am a big fan of the range at Dobson Ranch, mainly because of its grass hitting surface but also its late night availability... they've recently switched over to turf matts (and a top golf monitor so ok maybe worth it...)

Any recommendations on grass ranges in the Tempe/Scottsdale area? I live right by Papago. Only other ones I know of is Coronado (meh) and Longbow (kinda far and pricey)

What's wrong with Papago? I know Kokopelli has lights so you can hit balls at night, that would be closer than Longbow and you could get the arcis pass and get unlimited balls. I haven't been there in a couple years but never seemed overly crowded to me

Papago is turf mats (I'm looking for grass) and $12 for a med bucket

Kokopelli, also turf

I'd also second Talking Stick. It's a little further than the "Tempe" area but I think it's well worth your buck for the PDP program. Sometimes it gets too crowded but pays itself off after a couple days.

Currently it's $20 after 3PM and then it'll be $20 (or $15, not sure if they'll dec. this year) after 11AM in May.

Talking stick is decent...but they limit you to two bags a day which isn't much...unless they changed that?  Raven is good at $45 or $50mo for all you can hit but turf can be spotty at times and short game area sucks.  Legacy is the best option overall but the most costly as well.

At Raven, can the back range be used for the monthly plan?  The short game area is pretty good back there.

Not for the basic players club plan.  There is an option to use the back range but it's not advertised.  I inquired about it a year or two ago and it was pretty pricey...I think it was like $2500 or so for the year but I could be mistaken.

2 bags is 120 balls. Are you spending $20+ on range balls every time you go to the range? If you need more than 120 balls you may need a better practice plan.

Only thing about TS is no short game area. Range is the best..good balls, nice and flat, and putting green is pretty solid.

I go to The Raven...I hit 6-8 bags.....I don't need a new practice plan...If you are working on a swing change 120 balls is nothing.  I'd rather pay $50 for unlimited than $45 and be limited to 2 bags.
