What'd You Shoot Today?

Hate to say it was a disappointing 74, but after finishing the front nine 1-under (including 2 3-putts) and then making birdie on 10 and then bogeying the last 3 holes (unforced errors on each of the 3 holes) it was a disappointing 74.

However, I am happy with where my game is knowing that on consecutive days that I could have easily been under par.

That said I'm ready to be humbled at the Black on Wednesday.

Played my home course today and shot a very bad 77 from the back tees with rain but not much wind, had 13 pars in a row! most every for me, been even or under before but not just all pars, bogied 14 a short par 3, then had birdie on 15, then bogie on 16 then TRIPPLE on 17 a 180 yd par 3, and bogie on 18, dang, so sad, played well for 16 holes and let one get away. Missed a ton of birdies on those 13 pars.

I can't really compete with the above players, but after struggling for nearly 2 years or more by escalating from a mid 80's shooter to high 90's and 100's, My old form decided to show up today. I learned a few alignment keys hitting short pitches in the yard this weekend and took some swing characteristics from Dustin Johnson and Rory to the course and shot 84. The 84 included 7 penalty strokes, 30 putts, of which 5 were near misses, 7 Fairways, and 7 GIR's. I am very ecstatic and can't wait for next Monday. It was also a Honeymoon round for the new/old school Big dog in the bag and a different putter than I have been using.

78 from the whites on Pinehurst #2. One Eagle (woohoo on #10), one birdie (on #4), THREE Double Bogies (argh, my sand game sucks) and a three putt on 18 for a 38 on the back nine. Had the first tee time off the first as a single, dew sweeping through 9 (1 1/2hours) then hit the backup at 10 (split tees on the weekend here) where I got put with a threesome. Lot of fun today, I love this game!

I set a new personal best by shooting 80 on Sunday. 5 over on the front and 4 over on the back(par 71). The closest I've been before this was an 84 over a year ago and an 87 2 weeks ago.(different courses)

When I set the 87 two weeks ago it was after a bit of a layoff from Golf and things were just feeling really good. I had some nice warmup before the round. I felt that score should have been 3-5 strokes lower since I really screwed up holes 10 and 11. Got things back together on 12 and held on through 18.

Had 2 dismal rounds in between where I had no warmup and it clearly showed in my high 90 scores.

This time I had no big screw ups. 1 birdie, 1 double. I par'd the par 5's and had good chances for birdie on 2 of them. Had a couple more good birdie chances but the putts were just a bit off. Made some good clutch putts to keep the score low and finished with a new best score.

To add an extra bit of fun I finally decided to order a new custom driver before the round to fix some of the distance and height issues I've been having with my current driver. On Sunday with some small swing adjustments and a bit of the 9-3 swing thrown in I was hitting great drives on almost every hole with my existing driver that had been frustrating me so much. Them's the breaks, I guess.

Yesterday, had the best round of my life. Shot 64 (par 71).

Was bogey free with 7 birdies. Just one of those days where everything worked out. That's gonna put a dent in the old handicap. :)

I am in shock... I shot 79 yesterday to break 80 for only the second time ever. This morning I went out and played the front nine in +5. I went out again in the afternoon and shot... 73

I went out in 36 and had a 6 foot par putt on 18 to shoot even par... my best ever score by 7 strokes. Touched the left edge of the cup, looked like it would fall for just an instant before it lipped out.

73 with 4 birdies, 5 bogies, and two penalty strokes (with a ball OB on a par 5). I put a second ball in play and made birdie with it for a 6.

I can still hardly believe it.

Played on the 4th of July. I've been shooting in the high 70's for a bit and wanted to shoot a personal best for me. A 74 would be it. Got to the 6th tee and walked to the bathroom cursing myself for being four over par at that point. Got it together and birdied the 9th for a 39 on the front. Bogeyed one hole and birdied three to shoot a two under 34 on the back for a grand total of 73! Par 72 course. I did it. Played another 18 half heartedly and holed out from a fairway bunker 54yrds from the hole for a 77. Damn good day!

My front-nine was a disaster today at my home course. I was +5 through 2 after making a double-bogey on the first and a triple on the second lol. Managed to turn things around pretty quickly with my impeccable short-game kicking in and scrambling very well to end with +3 at the turn. Back-nine was ok-ish and shot +3. So after a dreadful start, I think I recovered pretty well and it'll be a round I'll remember well next time I'm not playing well.

Today shot my best round a 73 against my golfing arch nemisis (best friend) as a witness, it was a zone day like I could read the greens and just put the putter down and the ball would role in, ball striking was good as well.

As hard as we make this darn game sometimes it is possible for the sun to shine on a dogs butt!

I do have to say through this website I have been exposed to so many different techniques and ways of looking at golf that I know I shot this well because of it.

To all those wondering, The Pure Ball Striker works, Sevam1 knows "it is in the dirt!"

Fairways and Greens everyone!

Played last Friday after a break because I was just too busy to get to the course. Played 27 holes at the Disney courses (18 at Magnolia and 9 at the Palm). I started out ugly, bogeying the first 3 holes, and shot 40 on the first nine. Went on to shoot 35 then 32 for a -1 total and -4 after the first 3 holes. Not too bad.
