What'd You Shoot Today?

Played the tips on my home course on Saturday. Shot 80 with three doubles. Oh what could have been.

Then a buddy of mine and I made the trek out to Turning Stone Atunyote on Sunday. I once again shot 80, but this time with two doubles and a lovely triple. I was hitting the ball so well, I cannot for the life of me understand why I have a mental lapse at least a couple times every round.

A poor 78 (38-40). Eagled the first hole (par 5) and it was downhill from there. Second hole hit a good drive, hit a 7-iron exactly how I wanted, but it went over the green and the round went south from there. Not where I want my golf game to be, but the upside is that I was able to finish the round. Bad elbow tendonitis has kept me off the golf course for over a year.

Walked 9 for first time ever on a extremely hilly course. Shot 2 over 38. Havent shot in 70s in 10 years wanted to keep playing but i was too tired and just couldnt do it lol. They had a scramble starting soon we can blame it on that. First time in a long time i didnt have any shots i can look back on and think they were wasted shots.

Course handicap of 13, shot 85. Dead on per the HDCP gods.

Had ***4*** 3 putt bogeys, and even worse missed ****4*** putts within 5' for U/D. Last week I was a putting magician, and yesterday my putter felt like I was using the wrong end. However I hit the ball really well for me, and so it felt like a good round. I only had 2 doubles.

80 with triple on front. Playing a course that was a goat / sheep farm at one time. Very fun and nice people running it.

Livin' proof that Lefties are not naturally talented.

84 in our city tourney, which was my first tournament since high school. Played pretty well through 12 considering I was nervous (I was 2 over) and then complete blow up on 13 and 14. 13 resulted from somehow nuking a 5 iron and having to take an unplayable / then a 3 putt. It apparently shook me as I hit the worse drive of my life on 14 and proceeded to butcher that hole entirely. From that point on my driver was gone (duck hook everywhere), so it was just a matter of hanging on. Still a fun day, but wish I could have held it together a bit better.

75 at my home course. Played to about 7000 yards yesterday.

Was actually my first time out with my " swing coach". Start my first lesson on Tuesday with him so it was good to get a round in together prior. This will be y first time working with someone. Everything has been self taught to this point.

I did not play well but stayed patient and managed my way around the course to post a solid score. One thing I have noticed this year is even when I am not playing my best I can still keep it together. I could not drop a putt all day yesterday, just one of those days. The bad days are low scores, the good days and even lower. Its nice to be in that spot finally.

Double bogey on the easiest Par 5, just lost concentration on that hole..

I will take it though. HCP down to a 1.4 now after that round.

Bogey golf at a new course yesterday - I was pretty happy with that.  Certainly better than double boges, like I've been hitting most of the year thus far.

Broke 80 for the first time today. Looked at the scorecard on 17 and was at 75, knew I had to par the last hole to break 80. Last hole is a par 4 with water on right side. Hit a safe driver to the left, had 130 in and hit my approach past the pin on the fringe. Sank a birdie putt for 78. Felt amazing!

I shot 4 over, 76 yesterday at Ute Creek Golf Course, Longmont, CO playing the gold tees.  I had iron approaches on 16 and 17 that missed the green but was on the fringe.  I was just off the fairway on 3 of the 5 holes I missed so driving was pretty decent.  I played Saddleback Golf Course, Firestone, CO last Sunday and shot 3 over, 75.  I made a recent change to my tempo and slowed down my back swing with a slight pause at the top (like Hideki Matsuyama).  This was done to complete my back turn (as limited as it is now days) and to get the club set before the downswing.  This seems to have greatly improve my ball striking and shot direction on my irons.  I am hoping to be able to play at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs this coming Saturday.

+1 over 72 yesterday on a fairly easy course, but I had not hit a ball in 2+ months so i'm pretty happy with that. 3 Birdies, 4 Bogeys, and 11 Pars.

Highlights included driving the green on a reachable Par 4 (260 into wind) to approx 6 feet (missed the putt 🤬), several full release power cuts with the driver, and lots of cheeky short game shots with the 58*. Also never had to scramble/save a bogey, they were all simply barely missed par saves.

Lowlights included several very bad pulls/double crosses on Par 3 tees and a general lack of feel with mid and long irons leading to poor strikes. Bomb and Wedge ruled the day.

+8 (80) from about 6600. A god-awful triple on a par 3, sprinkled in with a bunch of messy bogeys.

Problem was I birdied the first...

A ten over 80 with triples on both of the par 5’s. This would normally drive me nuts but on both holes I effortlessly hit drivers into trouble that I haven’t been able to reach in 20 years. Granted I didn’t recover as well as I would like but my distance is starting to come back which I’m quite happy about.

Was a real struggle the last two rounds, not sure what it was but I just did not have fun golfing those days.

Turned it around yesterday with a 74.

Putting still atrocious in my mind. 3 three putts ( one was a Par 5 I got on in two but had a very hard 30 footer across the green with massive slope, missed the 5 footer)  , and more than a handful of birdie opportunities lost from poor putts.  I cant get mad at myself over making 4 bogeys and 1 bird with 2 three putts on the card. I hit the ball well but I just never seem to capitalize on birdie chances to get myself under par.

Time to start focusing a majority of my time putting it seems.

Shot 98 at Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, MA last Friday.  Played pretty well by my standards.  I have also determined that I play much better without my 60* wedge and it is now in the closet.  I had 4 pars thru 11 holes and had a few mishaps after that.

Shot 71 at Diamond Bar GC on Tuesday.  Lowest round of the year.  3 birdies to get there to boot.  I'm really excited about where my game is overall.  Sure, I could be more consistent in the ball striking department, but my putter has been on fire lately.  I've also noticed that my ball doesn't curve as much as it used to.  Thank you technology!
