What'd You Shoot Today?

Ugh - shot a 91 with an 8 on a par 3 and an 8 on a par 4. Both were bunkers that ate my lunch. that par 3 included a 4 putt. I was so frustrated from the bunker that it completely ruined any concentration on the green.

1 under 71. 6 birdies, 5 bogeys, and 7 pars. Three consecutive birdies to finish front 9 and finished back 9 with two consecutive birdies. Good holes were good, bad holes were not so good. Felt sick to my stomach after eating an energy bar at the turn and had a stretch of tough holes, but after guzzling a lot of water it subsided on 15. Felt like a scrambling day, but short game is letting me down and got me crazy.🤪😂

Also, near hole-in-one on 17. It hit the hole and lipped out. Just my luck. 😂

Yesterday - Shot a 79. I'm currently hobbling around with a knee injury and I decided to lighten up and swing easy. It all worked and felt great. 1 bird... Parred some tough holes.. I was thrilled coming off that last 91...

I had an 83 under gorgeous fall skies today. Trying to milk this season for all it is worth. Got out three times this week.

Today I carried Z Forged muscle backs in place of my Z765 7/8/9 irons. They aren’t appreciably less forgiving in my hands. The 7 is marginal. Great on the range, a bit sketchy on the course. The short irons are awesome.

  • 2 weeks later...

Played 90 holes over the course of last weekend on a trip with some friends. Hadn't played or hit the range for a couple weeks, so I hit one bucket on Wednesday to see where my swing was at and basically eliminated all my swing thoughts to dumping the hands low and close to the body and firing through the ball. Had great success at the range and even more surprisingly, kept it together all weekend. Had a couple errant shots here and there, but my duck hook miss was gone. Since we were playing various scramble/best ball formats I decided to dust off the fairway woods a few times and even those were working.

With all the team play I only tracked my individual score on the first 18 hole warmup round where I shot a season best 43 on the front 9 and a decent-for-me 52 on the back for a 95.

Played yesterday for the first time in about a month.  Very rusty especially on and near the green. 97 with 7 3-putts. Only lost one ball though 🙂

Out in 48. Terrible, just an ugly front nine.

Back in 41, missed two makeable putts in addition to one brain-dead miss, just a total concentration lapse. Good nine, and had one or two of those bad misses gone down, that’s a really good nine holes for me.

Either way, that’s 89 blows….and marks the second time I’ve broken 90 with one arm. No complaints here! 👍🏻

Trying to play thru a vicious hook across the bag.  Took about 8 holes for sheer cussedness to make it stop.  Played from the tips and made myself reach on the follow thru.  Was cutting across my body finishing the swing.

Shot 88 from the tips at 6900, minus handicap made it even par.  I’ll take that all day.  Course was really stretched out with well back tees and pins.

74 from the back och a soggy course with slow but even and fair greens. Had a bad stretch on holes 12-14 with three stupid bogeys but regrouped. Narrowly missed birdie putts on 15 and 16, saved par on the long and difficult 17 and stuffed the approach on 18. Tapped it in with my wedge and finished the year at a personal best hcp of 0.8. Turns out you can improve after 40.

The weather was nice enough yesterday to get a round in here in Indiana.  I took my 2 kids with me to get them out of the house.  Both play other sports, but only golf about once a year.  The course was pretty packed, so I decided to play 9 holes with them in a scramble for pace of play.  We shot -1 as a trio.

Our son, 13 year old, contributed with a 33 foot downhill bender for birdie, and he almost aced 150 yard par 3 with driver.  My daughter(16) was able to get the hang of and had a few drives that were over 200 yards.  I was super impressed with how well they picked it up for not playing much.  Irons tend to be the most difficult for them to pick up.  I can't remember if it was that hard for me when I started playing.  As for my play, I only missed 1 fairway, and one GIR, but that was when the kiddo stuck it to 5 feet with the driver.

42-44, 86. First round since October with new irons and a new putter. Wet conditions in the PNW, which is to be expected. Overall ok with the result, but four 3-putts which is disappointing as it was a weakness last year too. Hoping to be able to play a bit more through the winter months. Had a birdie on no. 2 from a long putt so that's the positive to take into the next round.

Shot +5 on saturday, and +6 on sunday. Didnt make a birdie in the entire 36 holes all weekend, and finished the round on sunday with a double bogey on a par 5 😞

Weather has been a little more mild in the UK but it was very breezy and as you can imagine, winter greens very bumpy and unpredictable.

Played a little better on saturday than my score would suggest, Sunday was a bit of a slog.

However, I did finally make an eagle.

I usually make at least 1 eagle every year.. this one came late..

Pretty sure this one came early!

Couldn't pass on 50 F in February, albeit windy.  Me and my lone winter golf friend set out to walk 18 yesterday.  Started with a par on a long par 4, and holed out a birdie pitch from 24 yards on par 3.  Back to reality with a double bogey on the third hole.  Nothing great after that.  I finished shooting 79 on a par 71.  Chunked 2 chips and had 3 3-putts.  Can be mad for a 70's score after not playing for a few weeks, and golf typically doesn't happen in February in the midwest.  Hoping to get under a 5 index this year.

46 - 45, 91 with some very crooked numbers. Trying to stay positive, but some very amateur golf errors right now. Bad at both ends, but new irons feeling great for the in between. More practice needed to get that confidence back, and it will come back. Good scores coming this summer.
